Ultimate SCAR Scripting Tutorial

As part of my promise to the SRL community, I have started a SCAR scripting tutorial.

This tutorial will eventually end up covering every topic in SCAR that I can think of. It has been written by myself in a hope to teach SCAR and SRL users a bit more than they already know.

Currently, the tutorial is only in its first version, and covers the fundamentals of SCAR. If you are just starting to learn SCAR, I highly recommend you download and read this tutorial through. It will give you a great kick start into the SCAR and SRL world.

Unlike other tutorials on this site, this tutorial must be downloaded, as it is a chm file, and it is very big. This tutorial also encourages you to actually script whilst learning about the different parts instead of just reading. Exercises and examples are dotted along the way to help you through.

my first suggestion is not to host it on rapidshare -.- :p.

other than that i dont have any suggestions cuz you've only gotten to the basics.

Though i like the exercise thing at the end, because it makes them try to figure how to use it on their own instead of just copying from the tutorial. It will probably be more useful when you get to the comre complicated things, but i still like the idea. :)

I read all the background info, and skimmed through the scripting part you have so far. Looks great :) I wish I had had this when I started scripting :p

Only 1 suggestion - Maybe I missed it b/c I only skimmed through it, but you could mention that using the Scar functions (MoveMouse, Clickmouse, Sendkeys, etc) isn't safe for RS.

Other than that, perfect so far. Sticky it :p

This will help everyone for easier use: Maybe move it to the beginner section and get it stickied.
So it's easier (becuase some people mightn't scroll down).
On another note, this is a brilliant tutorial, I wish I had this when I was learning scripting.

Not working for internet explorer, is this only for Firefox?
i do not personally own the computer i am on so i can't add firefox.

Although, I was dissapointed it didn't have anything of the more advanced type of scripting. Could you add that whenever you get time?

To fix the 'cannot show the web page' issue, right click on the application. Then select properties. Around the bottom of the properties it should say unblock. Hit it and at the bottom right, click apply then ok. Rerun the application and it should load. (By the way I did this with Vista.);)

This is a great guide to get someone started making their own scripts. Great Job.

Omg thanks a lot Starblaster! this tutorial helped me out alot. I made my own script that brings up internet browser and goes to Runescape and does everything and loggs me in. Now i just wanna learn how to make more advanced scripts with like colors. Well Anyways great tutorial I loved it and it helped a lot. Thnx!

wow, thx this is very useful and very easy 2 use guide, im sure because of this i may try 2 create some of my own scripts once i can get Scar 2 work lol, im having trouble installing the SRL4...keep getting an error.. but very nice keep up excellent work

Pretty good although I dont think your supposed use ClickMouse, SendKeys ect. anymore isnt it detectable wouldn't use it anyway rather use Mouse and TypeSend.

yeah page cannot be displayed i see it is some wierd format which my pc is unable to read

Oh i resolved it,
If there are any more people with the "cannot be displayed" error read on:
download the link, hit save and save to desktop or sumwhere easy to acces,
right click on the icon then hit properties then press unblock somwhere on that box.

If it gives you hell, here's what I did:

1. Download from MegaUpload
2. Save to C:\Program Files\Scar 3.15\Scripts\Tutorials (created folder)
3. Close MegaUpload
4. Open C:\Program Files\Scar 3.15\Scripts\Tutorials
5. Uncheck "Show me this window when I open this file" (or whatever)
6. DON'T INSTALL FF unless you want to. It just consumes disk space.

Now it works! Btw, thanks 4 the tut.
