My pc is terrible, so I'm going to be taking it apart this weekend in an effort to completely clean it. I will also be wiping it. Ready for payday where I will buy an I5 processor! (I'm not rich enough for moar).

Good luck. :P

I'v bought a can of air for mylaptop, plan on taking the cover off and blasting it. Don't plan on taking anything away since I'd probably mess it up :d

been using my compressed air as a safety net, it's getting tedious doing it every now and again because the dust bunnies aren't reachable :(

Hmm, I suppose that'd be a good idea, but that would put stress on my fans wouldn't it?

how does that make any sense? think about that for a moment

that's like saying, 80 degree weather puts less stress on fans than 90 degree weather

I'm also 12 but I thought the fan would turn off or blow at slower speed if temperature is lower :s

I'm pretty sure the fans will never turn off unless you tell them to manually or if the PC is actually off.

on my laptop there is 1 fan and the speed is constant.

On my desktop there are 4 fans and the speed is constant on 2 of them. The other 2 you can adjust the speed using dials on the enclosure.

Come to think of it, I didn't get thermal paste when I built my computer :s
Is it a problem?

There's a default paste on it.

There's a default paste on it.

Not all come with paste on them, he should probably check because the paste is what removes the heat from the CPU.

it wouldn't be on more than 30 seconds without, the stock coolers have paste on them.

stock ones do. all of them

and he shouldn't check, because the paste is already spread.. thus taking it off will create air pockets, pastes only reason to exist is to get rid of air pockets thats why the only method used to apply paste should be dot method.

When you say all stock have it applied, do you mean it comes with paste or is all ready on?

the coolers that come with CPUs are called stock coolers

they all have pasted pre-applied

might as well keep it on, the old mobo is compatible with it.. the new cpu won't be.

there's a lever on the side of the cpu, (assuming you took the heatsink off already) you have to lift the lever and it'll unlock the cpu from being attached to the board and you can take it off

no reason to though

how much money you got for upgrade?

what your motherboard is capable of, isn't worth getting, stuff is way too old.

need diff ram too

not a lot. Ram is no problem, work can get that...

Thinking about just buying a shell of a newer machine then upgrading (It would probably be better than using my old crappy stuff
