Whats its made from?
Well, Turpinator's OldSchool Miner is OldSchool, so that means gfx cards only bro.
Currently ive got some sort of MSI board with 2 pci-e @x16, and 2 pci-e @x1 with risers as seen in the first above image.
All four slots are filled with ATI HD Radeon 5770s, maxing out at about 200khps with scrypt.
Those temps Turp... how'd you get them soo low?
Well.. I have a secret. My miner is currently outside in my garage... where temps are below freezing normally.
If i were to run this inside in my 10C room, i would be hitting temps of 100C and my room would get even warmer, leading to warmer temps over time.
Woah woah woah turp, Mining is no longer profitable with GPUs... And why are you using 5770s and not 7970s?
Yes and no. BTC not really anymore.
On that second note... These 5770s were old cards i had, so they have paid for themselves already. It only cost me ~200$ for the mobo, case, ram, ssd, and cpu.
Whats up with those cards that are facing us?
I THOUGHT YOUD NEVER ASK! Well, with Turpinator's OldSchool Miner, i decided to go custom. I made mounting holes on the case while i drilled and tapped the gfx cards to ensure a stable mount. (note, pic was taken from the side... this computer is actually standing vertically [and upside down for increased airflow])
Other modifications to the case include extra vents and a custom mount for the salvaged PSU (as the one i bought blew up after 2 days of use)
okay. i think thats all.
Justin, be jealous.
