English is not my first language, and still I can write decently without the use of any tradutor, as well as write "your" and "you're" at the right place!

meh, different for everyone i guess. I personally don't understand why people find it hostile when others point them out on their mistakes, especially grammar. constructive criticisms is not a bad thing. Heck if someone pointed out my mistakes i'd learn so much faster. Everyone had bad grammar at one point.

They are both grammatically valid but mean slightly different things. Yours connects to the present and his does not.
"Everyone had..." implies that everyone's grammar was once bad but is not anymore. This is probably not true in most cases. :p
