The Shout Box...Or Scream Box...Or Something

I was wondering if it wouldn't be too much work, to add a ShoutBox, or something that you can type messages into to make it appear at the top of the screen. This would be great because then, people wouldn't have to go look and see if there was a new post, and see if some1 came out with a new version of something. Then, someone could just post "Version .99 of my ________ is out!" You would know right away. Another idea would be to have it only accessible to people with at least 50 posts or something. This would restrain the newbs/noobs from shouting, "What is scar! How do I work it?"

I dunno, this is just a thought, but why do you or do you not think we should add it?

I should hope that the application system would keep anyone who doesn't even know what SCAR is out, and not spamming anywhere they can on these forums.

The idea overall sounds okay though.

If you guys are wanting something to spam and talk on, can't you just set up an IRC Channel. I don't really like shoutboxes its basiclly just a thing to spam in but nobody actually reads. Well thats my opinion. ;)

I am all for it. Or a chatting/irc channel. that would be nice when no one is posing just to bs and talk about scripting. I like irc :D

irc would be a better bet.. shoutboxes would just lead to useless spam that would bulk up the forum's bandwith(sp?, and, or memory? :p)

I would say an irc channel would be a bad idea, its creates alot of problems.

But a shoutbox for definate.

I dont think a shout box would be a good idea, perhaps a section of the forum to "chat", but not prt of the main page. That way everyone wins ;)

I visited there once, but there was only you so i logged of :) it would be nice to have alot people there, so you could ask help at any time! I join at weekend! :D lets see if we get alot of users in there!
