View Full Version : Getting Access to Password Protected Wireless Networks?

Harry

Ok, here's my problem: At home I have slow-ass dial-up. My grandma's neighbor has Road Runner (10mbps ftw) w/ wireless.

Only thing is IT IS PASSWORD PROTECTED WITH A networkkey or something (WEP, or something like that) So is there anyway to get in without knowing this key (like some cool program?)

And BTW, I don't know who's wireless I am stealing so it is not like I can ask them for the hey ;P

Thxx :D

You gotta install special drivers for that sort of stuff.

/me wishes you luck; at the same time betting that you won't get it to work and will turn to linux for atleast a few hours to get it done.

Harry
08-21-2007, 11:45 PM
That is really encouraging Smartzkid :p lol

Check video tuts. Turn to linux.

Did you know, in china, if you're caught leeching off someone elses' wireless network, protected or unprotected, you get life in jail.

And if you're caught smuggling drugs, you get death by MACHINE GUN.

No joke.

Haha i am and have been on my neighbours wireless for a few months now. Before you start cracking be sure to try the pass admin....

bump pl0x?

Boreas: couldn't find that linux live cd.. were you talking about BackTrack2? Cause I used it, but it doesn't detect my wireless card (it is an semi-extrenal one, sticks out of laptop like an inch)

okay the best one is go to
http://www.oxid.it/cain.html
and then go to

this is the video on how to use it

Good point, Pyro. Before you go and try WEP cracking (which isn't very hard to do, once you do it) try user:admin and password:admin, or administrator and administrator. Works 95% of the time with Linksys networks - don't know about Road Runner.

Most of the Lynksys routers have no WEP x)

This is old..

Still never got done, but, w/e XD

maybe you could sneak an ethernet cable that runs from your neighbors house to your computer

In most of countrys it is illegal to destroy or eliminate security hardware. And stealing internet connection direct from your neightbour's router is illegal too.

W00T GO PAIN TRAIN! YOU JUST GOT YOUR TENTH POST! SPAM FTW!
anyways
I was under the impression that that was a whole lot slower, but I think you might be able to reset the password? Maybe I'm thinking about something else, but most people use Linksys WRT54G's, and they have this little reset button on them. Maybe you can go there with your grandma sometime and shneak in...lol

OK so far reading this.
Most the guys posting here are noobs.
Heres the run down.
What you are trying to do is called Wardriving.
Now how this wil work.
This person will have a encryption key in either WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPA-PSK.
So you will need to brake this all are brakeable some take more time than others.
Now to crack a wep key.
YOu need aircrack-ng
That will basically capture packets and give you enough data to run a crack on the data.
Giving you a wep key.
Then you can take that out of WEP form and chuck it into ASCII or Hex for logging on.
You need a wireless card that supports packet injection.
And you need A wifi card that supports Packet Capturing.
I sugest the intel IPW3945a/b/g
I use that.
And yes this is illegal.
But ive never been caught so unless your an idiot you wont either.
