I have vista, need help getting SRL 4 to work

I have read the tutorials and tried everything, I have uninstalled and reinstalled, i have asked lots of people but no one has actually really told me anything.

I have used [TUT] How to manually install SRL 4 BETA and i followed each step carefully as best i could, however, i think vista is a little different.

for instance, when i try to copy the core and skills file from srlbeta4.rar they show up as a huge winrar file? they dont show up as folders, they have the winrar symbol next to them. Then, when i try to run it, it says the files do not exist?

Hi, I'm the maker of that tut. You probably didn't extract them your files from the SRL4BETA giant winRAR file correctly. Could you elaborate a little more on what they show up as? When you open up the file that has the SRL4BETA stuff in it, what SRL files can you see? It most likely isn't Vista that's the cause of your problem, but I could be wrong.

Make sure the plugins are in the plugin folder. there is a folder that is labeled something like put inside the plugin file and take that and drage the contents into the plugin folder.

1 vista
2 xp
the vista doesnt work while ive done the exact same things on xp and they work

I encountered this problem as well...because I have vista too.

For some reason this will only happen to me in the SCAR folders, but when you are in the includes folder, there should be a button in the bar above the folder display, that says 'Compatibility Files'. Then that should show you some files that for some reason you could not see before, which in this case would be the SRL folder. It's quite odd that they have this, and I don't quite understand the functionality or purpose of it...

login on a admin account on you computer. uppack the .rar file on your desktop.

have ''show hidden files'' on
go to:
partition c / gebruikers(englich = users)/ gebruiker(englich = user i think)/ appdate/ local/ virtualStore/programa files.
delte the ''scar 3.11'' foldere. (when there is one).

copy the file you had on your desktop and past him into the include file. the normal one! not the one in you virtualstore.
and do the normal srl 4 beta stuff. make sure your on a admin account!. awanser the qeuston (those who ask your is its allright and stuff).

then right click on you scar 3.11 icon and chose option: run as administator. i hope that helps.

if you have one of those USB memory things, you can try copying the contents of your SCAR folder from one of your xp computers and then put them into the SCAR folder in your vista.

my friend with vista couldn't get scripts to work either (personally prefer XP)...what we did on his comp was:

search for "Scar" (all files and folders) on the comp...we erased them all and started from scratch and he hasn't had any problems...

Right click scar and click "run as administrator."

hmmm..i had vista too about 2 weeks ago...and i didnt get the srl work too on my comp, i installed xp pro and now it works..
