I was wondering what would make more money, autoing to get yew logs and selling them or autoing to get coal and iron, then get smithing xp on my main by making steel bars on my main and then selling those. Any help?

I'd say Mining would take a shorter amount of time and would net you more money. Yew Trees are way too overcrowded nowadays, but you're welcome to go for them if you'd like. I'd say Steel Bars would be the best choice, though.

Yeah but mining the coal would be a pain.. I sure hope the Mining Guild Raper gets updated to SRL 4 soon!

With the right script I would say making steel bars would be overall better..

It's the way to go....Woodcutters have a high level requirement if they want to start making some serious money. Miners can always result to steel bars

True mining is the money maker, the end product is worth more after all.

I say mining. You can sell the ores, smelt and sell bars, smith and sell the items, use the or high alch. Woodcutting isn't as rewarding to me.

Go for mining way to many woodcutters out there it would be a pain to get a tree by yourself :D

mining ftw..
because if you auto iron, not only does it require only lvl 15 mining, but it's 100gp each (since last i checked anyways) and coal is only lvl 30 and 200 each (see above :P)
autoing yews is 300ea, but it takes about 2 days to get to lvl 60 woodcutting.. (it took me about 2 days to get there on my main)

You should mine. Buy your own coal and mine the iron, then sell the steel for more than you bought the coal.

Use Sumilion+Lorax's VYC (Wood cutting yews) Link in my siggy.

i reackon that you should go for the steel bars as you can get into the mining guid and get them from there and yews are too crowded

Mining tbh.

Cutting yews is really really slow. If you can mine 3 iron ore in the time you can get 1 yew mining will be more worth it. BOO for wc!

sorry for the flame but you cant boss others around lol
i shouldnt even be saying this seeing im not junior member yet either
but at least have respect for the members of the site

as far as this topic goes i would like to see more autoers on the magic trees and not the yews =P
i want the price on mage logs to go down =)

Mining because as stated before, Yews are overcrowded, mainly by Chinese sweet shops.

Do I really have to be the first one to stick up for WCing? Now yes, yews can be overcrowded, but aren't we forgetting about willows? With a decent wcing lvl and a rune ax I can auto about 6-7 bag fulls every 15 minutes or roughly 700 logs an hour. Of course this, like any other auto spot, can get crowded, but unlike yews doesn't stay that way 24/7.

I'll have to go with mining too. There's more of a market for iron and coal ore, so you'll be able to sell those off quicker.

I would say WCing cause its easier .. Coal is always clicking and blabla .. Yews = 1 click for more than 1 log

Personally i would say woodcutting ... ... ... that way I CAN DO THE MINING .....jk ... mining and smithing would get you valuable exp ..... and the cost of coals and steel bars seems to be going up a little faster atthemoment

My votes with mining. Woodcutting is just plain slow!

miners are better, but right now am wcing since its easier to find a script.

Mining is really competitive, but less annoying than becoming part of the flock of auto WCers. So yeah, mining...

mining mining mining, it has gotten me all my profits.
WAS going to fish and sell lobs,it's wayyy faster than coal, and sells for 250ea on non mems,(coal is 200ea at max and people try to buy at 180ea -_-)
but i couldn't find a script, and wasn't surprised,a karamja fisher/banker seems hard.

credit to Wizzup?'s draynor netter, got my autoers to 40 fish over a shorrrrrt amount of time. =]

I'd say it depends on where you go, in some places its easier to mine and in some places it easier to wc. Although overall yes wc yews is being butchered by lvl 3 default noobs so mining ftw

chulo92
09-29-2007, 04:51 AM
i think wc is faster and easier

I would have to go with Mining. More room lots of areas. Woodcutting is sort of restricted because not of many places to chop and always crowded.

Nasu94
09-29-2007, 06:25 PM
Yew logs are 300-330 gp each, coal is 175-200 each and iron is 100-110.

I would go for yew logs. If you chop 100k logs, you will get 30-33m
And if you mine 50k coal and 50k iron, you will get 27,5-31m

Here comes a mini Tut...

Mining Vs Wood Cutting.

>>Mining

>Pros-Mining is a great skill because once you have ore then you can make armor or weapons.

>Cons-It makes money slowly but when you get a high miming lvl it pays out.

>>Wood Cutting

>Pros-Wood cutting is a fast money maker in the beginning meaning low lvl skills will give you more. It is also a lot faster to get to lvl 60 wood cutting then in mining. Willows sell like nobody's business and are fast to get at lvl +45.

>Cons-Yews sell for less because of the fast lvl gain and other bots. Yew chopping is slow and a hassle with other Bots/people.

>>What I do

I have one huge army that will move around Mining one month and wood cutting the next. The reason I do this is because it would seem like a real person to work on more than one skill...

>Mining

I would start off mining ess till you reach the lvl of 25-30 then mine Iron till 50-60 and coal from then on.

>Wood cutting

I would chop trees till 15 then oaks till 35 and willows till 62-65. I find the yews too busy and an inconvenience.

Hope This Helped Someone,
