How To Fix The "could not move plugins error"

Well if you are running windows vista and you downloaded the SVN and SCAR 3.12 correctly, you get this error. Could not move plugins or something like that.

Well to fix this error try this:

Go to C:Program Files.

Search for SCAR 3.11 or any other version of it.

Now right click on it and put delete.

A message will appear if you want to delete it or not.

Put yes to all. If you have SRL4beta you have to delete it.

Also if you have other SRL versions its better to delete them.

After you did all of that restart your comp(for better results).

Now open up SCAR 3.12/tools/options/SRL download and click check out. It should work now.

Please post and tell me results.

My error is the same error this thread is about :) no screeny to post .. it's pretty cut and dry: every time I try to click "checkout" to update SRL I get the error you posted about.

Could it be that I don't have another version of SRL installed right now for it to update?

Sure :) First I downloaded and installed Subversion from here:

Then I downloaded SCAR 3.12 from Freddy's site:

I can select "subversion repository" and then I can select "checkout." The DOS window pops up, but stays black and blank .. then I get the following error:

"Couldn't move the plugins from the SRL folder to the plugins folder"

THINGS I HAVE TRIED ON MY OWN TO FIX IT:

1. I deleted EVERY version of SCAR I had on my computer
2. I deleted SCAR 3.12 and reinstalled it
3. I deleted Subversion and reinstalled it
4. I am the Administrator
5. I tried manually installing SRL 4 Beta

I am running Microsoft Windows .. I have never had a problem using SCAR, or SRL.

Ok listen up closely please. Open up search for files or w/e and search for SCAR. Anything that comes out that says scar DELETE it:p. Aight now also, just because you uninstalled SCAR the include files do not go. So you have to make sure you deleted them. 3rd of all delete any srl version up to 4 beta from your desktop.

Okay .. King, I figured out my problem: when I was trying to download the new SRL (AFTER I cleaned my hard drive of anything else SCAR-related) .. I was remoting in to my PC. Once I got home and tried there - no problems .. 100% downloaded. Thanks for you help hun! :p

Chulo .. how are you connected to the internet? I found that being on wireless made it difficult for me because our wireless sucks here - connection DOES make a difference when using this means of downloading SRL.

I had to turn off everything (yes, including my anti-virus) that connected to the internet and shut down my other laptop to get everything to download and install. When I updated to SRL 5 yesterday it gave me hassle again .. I would shut something down, try again. Shut something else down, try again. Finally after shutting EVERYTHING down (the last one was my darn antivirus) it worked.

(and no - you do NOT need to disable your antivirus to run SCAR .. I did it purely because Kaspersky maintains constant connection to the internet and I needed those packets for SRL)

Try this and see if it works for you :)

I have always runned scar well, last 4 months nothing. So I decided to start up again. I install everything, click checkout and then I get the error....

I dont got any more ideas what I could do.

If all else fails, just copy the plugins from the SRL folder to the SCAR folder manually. I know in Vista, there's a lot of permission control everywhere... Besides, manually, you can't fail ;)

Log onto the Administrator account. Right click on whatever program you want to open. Click 'Run As Administrator'. Input the password if you have one, otherwise just click allow. Viola, that how you run something as Admin :)

I had the exact same problem, i removed the old scar off my pc, then i restarted... then i right clicked the new scar and clicked run as adminstrator then checked out and it worked for me :(h):

Yea but still.

Try this:

Delete your whole scar folder and uninstall scar.

Download Scar 3.14 again.

Right click scar and run as admin even though you are the admin of the computer.

Go to tools/options/srl-download/checkout.

Listen carefully all!
For those of you that does what he says, and it's still not working.
You need to uncheck UAC User Control.

To do this:
Start - Control Panel - User Accounts and family safety - click on User Accounts on the top of the page - Activate or Deactivate User Control.

First thing's first, thanks a lot :D I've tried many other ways of working around vista (Can't exactly remember but there was another thread on problems in general with "moving plugins" on vista being #1) but strangely enough it worked for me this time!
So this is basically how I did it:
1: downloaded Scar and SRL (following this guide essentially but there are plenty of other just as helpful outlines: http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17890)
2: followed kingarabarin's instructions to the point of restarting then checking Scar
3: when I clicked scar it said that it couldn't function because I had deleted the Scar folder from the C:\Program files so I decided to restore the deleted Scar folder from my recycling bin
4: so then here I was just thinking what to do next... after all this I just ran the program as admin one last time then did the checkout from tools>options>SRL and it worked!
I don't know if this is any help but still thanks a lot!
*Note* I had also used another guide to disable user control account (control panel> security> user accounts/family saftey> user accounts> turn user account control on or off> then check out the box that appears in the window and click okay) also I'm running a vista 32bit if that's any help, also sorry for any spelling or grammar errors xD

I think that a manual download for SRL would be fix our problems though, since we could just put it in the SRL folder, and then just copy the contents of the plugins folder to the SRL folder, and then there ya go, you have SRL. OK here's how I did it.

This should solve the Vista UAC problem and the "could not move plugins error"

The main problem, I believe, is that the address for the SRL files is hardcoded into SCAR the web address has changed.

So here we go. Don't panic shouldn't take more than 30 mins to do (Unless you have a really slow net conection.

Uninstall your current version of SCAR and any old versions, then manualy delete the SCAR folder from the Program Files folder.

Download SCAR again and install in C:/SCAR 3.15 DO NOT INSTALL INTO THE Program Files FOLDER

Now Click start and type cmd in the search bar. This should open a Dos window. Type the following commands (which are case sensitive).

cd /SC*/I*
svn checkout http://www.villavu.com/repositories/srl SRL

Next right click on the desk top icon for SCAR and click "properties", click the "compatibility" tab and check the "Run this program as an administrator" box. Click the "ok" button.

Double Click the SCAR icon to run the program and click the "allow" button when the UAC popup opens.

Click on "tools" on the SCAR menu bar and click "options", click the "SRL Download" tab, and click the "Move plugins" button. DO NOT click the "Checkout" button as this will wipe out the SRL files and you will have to download them again. Finally make sure that the "Check repos during runtime for updates" check box is clear, and click "Ok"

That's all folks you are ready to go. Hopefully the next version of SCAR that comes out will have the link fixed.

I have another solution that I worked out today, and can help you if amc's solution does not.

I'll break it into steps for yall.

1) Uninstall SCAR and any other SVN program you have. You may need to manually delete some files left behind, but they shouldn't be much of a problem. If you cannot delete these (eg: you get the error: "Cannot delete, the file is in use") then simply restart and you will be able to.

2) Download and Install Tortoise SVN from the link below. I can personally vouch for the safety of this program.

3) Download SCAR 3.15b from this link.

4) Once you have them both installed (have SCAR in program files) , go to C:\Program Files.

5) Don't enter the SCAR folder, but instead, right click on it. Look on the popup box that will appear. Click on "SVN Checkout..."

6) When the Checkout windows appears, make sure you have your settings like so.

URL of Repository : http://www.villavu.com/repositories/srl/
Checkout Directory : C:\Program Files\SCAR 3.15\srl
Checkout Depth: Fully recursive

7) Once this is done, go to C:\Program Files\SCAR 3.15\srl, and open the folder "place inside plugins folder"

8) If this wasn't obvious enough, you need to COPY everything in this folder, and PASTE it into the C:\Program Files\SCAR 3.15\Plugins folder.

9) It should work. Have fun botting ;)



EDIT: If you do get an error while running a script in SCAR, be sure to post that. For the noobs, it will be in the bottom dialogue box when you have SCAR open. These errors can help pinpoint problems in the setup.

I ran into this problem a couple of times on Vista (64 and 32) but here's how I solved it:
1. Download the latest subversion and install.
2. Download the latest SCAR version and install.
3. Open Scar and go to File>Download Includes then click and it should have downloaded the plugins that couldn't be moved. Also click File>SRL SVN just in case.
4. Go to C:Program Files(86)>SCAR 3.20 (or whatever version is current)>Includes>place inside plugins folder.
5. Okay since the title is fairly obvious, just open up that last folder and copy all the contents and then open up the Plugins folder (C:Program Files(86)>SCAR 3.20>Plugins and paste!
6. Finally open up SCAR go to tools>options>SRL Download and click the SRL repository. After click move plugins to see that you don't get that bloody error anymore-because you actually moved them already! haha!

last person posted two months ago and that's not how you do it now, at least that's now how i was told to do it.

i have vista and i can open scar and everything but when i try to install srl or whatever it says it couldn't move the plugins. and i've never had scar on this computer before, so thats no the problem.
