Ok, well over the past week ive been looking at VMs, and I want one but I'm afraid of the lag. I have 1GB of RAM. I am afraid that if I get it, it will lag my computer like heck, and that I won't be even able to auto on any of the main OS, or the VM. So, would 1GB of RAM be good enough to be stabble, and wouldn't lag that often?

A VM = Virtual Machine, which pretty much is a computer inside a computer. So like, you can auto on your VM, and then on your main computer, work on something else while the VM is still running/autoing..

omg... it's safe (if you follow the instructions properly). Use search or google it. There are plenty of good guides to VM (look in the tutorial island subforum)

it also depends on your cpu speed, but i am able to run one vm on a 2.8ghz pentium 4 with 1gb of ram with no lag, and 2 with some lag.

How do I check how much RAM I have, because it says I have 1 GB of RAM, but I lag like crazy when I have a VM going on.

To check how much ram you have.. Go on your start menu and right click "my computer" and go to properties. In brief it will tell you your CPU speed and RAM speed.

To check go to something like System Information in the Control Panel. I had this problem with 1GB too. If you're using VMware then download the 'VMTools', I think its somewhere at the top of the VM screen. If using Virtual PC 2007, Then click Action -> Install Virtual Machine Additions -> Continue. Then go to your desktop and click My Computer -> Virtual Machine Additions (desktop part is if you're using TinyXP). That should reduce a LOT of lag.
