Hey guys, its been a while and I'm trying to get back into the runescape groove. I got all the virtual machine stuff setup properly and everything.
My system specs are:
asus a8n sli-deluxe
2gb ocz platinum pc3200
7900gs
amd athlon64 3800 single core
80gb h.d.
The problem is that when I open a java applet (runescape) in my vm, it will run fine, until I open a java applet on my regular computer. It severely lags and is not auto-able.
I've heard this could be a problem because of AMD. Anyone else share this problem?
also Im running a vm with 512mb, 1 core, 3gb, etc. etc. using tinyxp.
thanks

I'm confused by your specs :p How much ram does your whole computer have?
Also what program do you use for vms? (VMware, Virtual PC etc...)?

Ok let me solve the mystery try use spec like
256Mb VM Memory
1 Core Processor
Latest Java install
5 - 8Gb VM HDD install
if you still feel like lag then try this on host
CTRL+ALT+DEL > Windows Task Manager > Right Click Runescape.exe(For RSClient User) or Firefox(For Firefox user) or Internet explorer(for IE user) > Set Priority > Above Normal
and you should running smooth on host

ok, guys cmon are you reading my entire post?
K, the vm runs fine when Im only running runescape on it, but when I try to run RS on my host...it lags both applets. My host isnt laggy with other programs while using a VM. only when I run java applets in both the host and the VM is when i get lag.
Hope that clears things up a bit.
k now for specs.
host machine:
asus a8n sli-deluxe
2 Gb pc3200
7900gs

80gb h.d.
vm:

1 core
3 GB
tried many different versions of java
are any of you running an AMD machine or are all of ya intel fanboys?

It wouldn't concern Whether Intel or AMD and i believe Nielsie the top rank use AMD pc. Consider using VMware server why don't you try using VMware workstation for some trial?
If that can't solve at all, try steps below
CTRL+ALT+DEL > Windows Task Manager > Right Click Runescape.exe(For RSClient User) or Firefox(For Firefox user) or Internet explorer(for IE user) > Set Priority > Above Normal

Im not sure I understand your question. I think I am using VMware workstation right now.
I also was just curious "AMD or Intel" because I had this problem earlier when VM's were just becoming popular in the runescape community
and I read somewhere that it has something to do with AMD and the way they handle certain processing. Why are you so resistant...and I dont think changing the priority is going to change the performance much, I couldn't tell a noticable difference.
In addition to my original question, I would like to add, are there any other VM softwares out there that are worth my time, and are free?
Thanks in advanced,
Mikev
