You will find SCSS (shit compared to Scar Scape) in C:\Program Files\SCAR 3.12\includes\SRL\SCSS
(if you installed scar in C drive)
You can also use Scarscape
Scarscape - Is a runescape "client" that has the following things:
* Color does not change!
* Locked minimap
* Easier to script
* Helps scripts alot more, No more autocolor
Download: http://www.sythe.org/ss.rar
Run the html file and load runescape
or you can use offical runescape client from
http://www.runescape.com/runescape.exe
all of them are good

I say the official runescape client has less lag than using firefox or internet explorer. So I go with that.

For autoing RS I would recommend IE as its not memory intensive, but for regular playing move to FireFox or Avant. (Check out Avant, its pretty cool.)

when i actually play, i use swiftswitch, for its internal capabilities. for the extra memory loss, i think its features are very convenient

I recommend using Firefox along with an adblocker (if your f2p). All you have to do after you download the adblocker is right click on the banner and disable the ad, that way you will not have any lag and not have to deal with the annoying flashes on your screen.

I use plain old IE. I don't have any problems with color changes. It seems to work very well for me.
