what are the basic specs i should have on my comp for a VM?

Not exactly sure, but i think it's around:

1.5ghz proccessor,
512mb ram.

Because I never give my vms less than 225 ram, due to lag.

sounds about right. my comp has 1 gb of ram and 2.8ghz pentium 4 and i can run 2 vms.

I've ran it on a 833mhz and 192mb lol. Very slow though, only works decent with my Fast Fighter.

def agree there, mainly depends on what os you run on it, I use win2k for my vms and 256 is all I need for rs+macro

give it more if it lags a bit tho, usually better to run less vms and have each run more smoothly
