Hi, i have recently recovered a discarded labtop fomr my dad, and i've tried running RS which runs fine by its slef with minor lag. but while scripting it lags greatly.

labtop specs:

HP Pavilion zt1180
OS: windows XP
CPU : pantium 3 1.2 GHz
Ram: 496 mb Ram
video: onboard 16mb

i was wondering if there any tweaks i can do with xp or scar that will speed things up. because i would like to script with this labtop 24/7 while i write my first script on my main pc. thanks for any help.

well on sum scripts like auto-fighting without bone burying and stuff take off anti-randoms. That makes pc work faster.

Dude don't edit the code in wizzup's essence miner, sorry, but by your rank its pretty expected that you can mess something up easily :(

3.12 GhZ pentium is good, but you should get more RAM I think? though I've heard that people auto with 256 etc..

Yea you can't expect much from 1 1.2ghz. However, I suggest the you try and find a (torrent) place to download TinyXP rev06. I replaced my XP with it. Its like 10 times better and runs at the most for me 25 processes. It starts up with 12! I can 100% shut down and reboot in 47 seconds :p, including a 5 sec wait to boot from disc meaning 42 seconds yaya! So yea check it out, and the guy who made it is eXPerience, maybe search him on google or something.

Yeah, I auto with a computer thats 256 Mb RAM and it works fine so you're probably just getting bogged down by things that autoload when you start the computer. If all you want the computer for is autoing/scripting then I would recommend putting TinyXp on it.

or if you keep xp as is, just make sure to turn all of the graphics down, google something like "speed up xp tweaks" and there are a bunch. for instance, after setting the windows xp skin to "classic" you should also disable the service (start-run, type services.msc, and set Themes to manual)

True true, but when you install tinyXP 06 there is a folder called eXPerience on your desktop. Inside this it has a program which asks you questions and by pressing no it turns the services you don't need off :p and of course the hard core add blocker...

And no I don't agree that tinyXP is only good for a computer that you only use SCAR for. I have a dual core 1.6GHz and 1gig RAM, but I still use tinyXP as my OS because it is so much better than XP Home.

ok make way for me im the see zed ee pee aye...

go to www.katz.cd
search for:
registry mechanic
diskeeper pro OR perfectdisk (any will do)
adaware 2007
OPTIONALLY: kaspersky Antivirus

then go to www.download.com and get CCleaner

with all of them programs registered correctly and run weekly, you will have no problem. i run everything on my old IBM Thinkpad, which has 1.5Ghz CPU, and 512mb ram

there has actually been research done (and I have experienced it myself) that cleaner programs can actually slow your computer down more often than they speed it up

and as for tinyxp, I downloaded and installed it but I think I got a version that someone modified a bunch cus it was a piece of crap, and no experience folder either :(

maybe ill try again tho

I take that back, I know with the older programs (ace utilities and old versions of reg mechanic) it did more bad than good but it looks like it helps now

I hadnt used any in the past 3 years because it has caused issues before

um im not sure if this will help but try reformatting the main HDD to get rid of anything useless and to free up more space

usually wont help too much getting more hd space, but reinstalling windows every 3-4 months does make it run much faster (it removes anything that auto starts and clears windows files that normal ways dont clean)

pretty extreme way to get your computer to run faster

Download ad-aware, spybot and AVG free all from download.com
Do a disk defrag too....That should help quick a bit

I would say the best speed boost you could do is a clean install of XP, and make sure you don't install crap on the computer (use firefox, ad-aware, ect.)

Maybe you should consider purchasing more ram as well, ram is fairly cheap.
