Is it a off the shelf computer or is it custom built?
If it is off the shelf it would be nice if you could give a model number.
If it is custom built you would happen to know what motherboard is in it?
You should be able to, but to know what kind of RAM to add is another question.

Depends on your motherboard, but by seeing that you only have 512mb, you can most likely add another 512mb.

alght, a custom computer is one where you (or someone else) goes and buys all of the parts seperatly, and then puts them all together and throws a computer case around the whole ordeal.
a "off the shelf" computer, is one that is already put together for you.
and honestly, it has obsolutly nothing to do with whether you can add more ram or not.
what you will need to do is find out what mother board you have,
the simplest way to do that is with a program.
I belive the free version of everst should work, run it, and then tell us what your mother board is.

Thi si the only true way to determine if your motherbaord can support anyhting else.
AND it will let me be able to tell you exactly what kind of ram to buy. what speed, what size, and what type. Very important ;).
