1.Windows FireWall
2.Routers

1.To allow people to connect to your server you must allow it through your Windows Firewall first.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Network & Internet Connections > Click on View Network Connections. Next, right click on the connection you use to connect to the internet and click properties. Then click on the, “Advanced” tab and click on firewall settings. Make sure your firewall is always on & then go to the, “Exceptions” tab. At the bottom you should see a button labeled, “Add Port.” Click on it, for the name you can put, Private Server & for the port put in “43594” select TCP and click on ok. Now it will allow your server to receive connections through the firewall.

Now go to www.No-ip.com and register there. Then download no-ipDuc.

Create a host. No-ip.com is useful if you dont want people to see your ip.

2. For people with Routers keep reading.

I will teach you how to port-forward for linksys routers. If you need more help go to www.Portforward.com.

Open up Run > type "CMD". Then a black prompt screen should show up.

Type ipconfig.

Look for what it says after Default Gateway. For example 192.168.1.1. Should be something like that.

Then put that number into your browser.

It should ask for your password/username.

For the username leave it blank.

The password should be admin.

Click on security and un-check Block Anonymous Internet Requests.

Then click on Applications & Gaming.

For the name put anything.

For the port-range Start put 43594 and the End put 43594.

For the end of the ip, put 1 or 2. Im not sure.

www.portforward.com, this tutorial doesn't really tell you anything...
You don't have to use specific ports...
Passwords are often changed, admin is just the default for linksys routers...

For servers its recommended to use those ports.

If this tutorial doesnt tell you anything then dont bother to read.

Port forwarding is very useful in a variety of computer aspects:
-Speed up torrent downloads, sometimes up to double
-Host personal web servers (HTTP:80)
-Host gaming servers...

You can find a list of ports from the site Jackrawl gave us (Here is the direct link):
http://www.portforward.com/cports.htm

NOTE: If you are hosting a web server, note that some ISPs lock port 80, so you will have to get a way around (I use port 8080). [Personal Experience]
