Are DTMs for different colored items that are still the same item the same?
Yup, that's confusing, example - Would an iron ore's dtm be the same as a tin ore's? Would an oak log's be the same as a yew's?
EDIT: Maybe this should have gone in Scripting Help....:\

That depends on how you make the DTM. The shape of each log or ore is still the same, just the color. So if you wanne make a universal DTM for example ore, then you'll have to choose the parent dot, the one in the middle of the DTM, (don't know how else to discribe it) with a tollerance of 255 i thought. Then you can use it for all ore kinds.
If you wanne keep specific DTM, like for each ore a different one, select a tollerance of 10-30 (better experiment with it abit)

I'm a bit confused on what the parent dot is :(
If I make it using just the black color (65534 or something like that) would it be a universal ore? Or is the black on each ore in a different place?

The black color should be in the same place on each ore, the parent dot is the spot where the script will click when you ask for it.
Normally in the tuts about making a DTM they tell you to select the first dot in the middle of the item, with DDTM's it's called the Mainpoint i think.
The outline dots being the black ones would be called subpoints.
I asume you mean using only the outline for your DTM, it would make a universal one, but it will click on that spot also. So if you add some random mouse movement before you click, then it might miss the DTM.

So basically if I have a universal DTM I can't have a 'Mainpoint' since the color on the Mainpoint of each ore would be different?

DTMs HAVE to have a main point. If you were making a universal DTM, however, you'd just put the tolerance to 300. That finds every color (well, except, sometimes, the blue chat text, but that doesn't matter).

Indeed, the color of the mainpoint on each ore is different, but choosing a tollerance of 255 would make it universal as it wouldn't mather what color it finds there.

By the way, the main point is just like a subpoint, except that it's the point that the x and y coordinates are returned at... if that made sense :p
