Just use smart to mine iron (all your chars mining), and smelt the mined iron? ...

Surely that's the most cost effective method...

Buy the rest with the remaining cash.

if your buying at GE prices, why not just buy off GE? I started a smithing army and I just made them all miners too. I got all of em to about 35 smithing without ever smelting/smithing anything. Knights Sword and Mordaut books ftw!

Lol...

You do know that afterwards, making the bars into other things gets you more xp?

Just do bronze until you can smelt steel. Don't bother with smelting iron, it's a waste of time without ring of forgings. Go with steel until level 60 smithing.

Probably since 2008 because you keep gravedigging 4 year old threads.
