Hello, it is IP-Drowner with Internet Problems.

My internet connection is connecting to my friends house across the road from my house. The father (who is a real computer geek) said that he thought somebody was also accessing their network (as we pay half and they pay half) so he set up an Internet User account and password.

Right now i am accessing the internet from my mobile phone via Motorola Phone Tools (My phone is a Motorola) and my money is kind of running out.

So what i need is how to connect back to the internet from my original connection. The father and family currently left to see the fathers mother who is in Armadale (a place in Australia). He told us he set up the password and he gave us a password but left no instructions on how to use it.

So, please help me. If you can't help me, redirect me to a website that has my same problem. I have tried google but all it came up with was crap about setting up and internet connection, using iPhone etc.

Thanks for reading, IP-Drowner.

Wait, I don't get this. So you're house is here:

x | | | y

With the lanes in the street in between you and the other guys house. You guys share an Internet connection. I hope you guys live close to each other...how do you get a good signal with that?

But anyway, he made a "password" aka WEP for it so that others couldn't access and he gave you the password.

OK, so now wait. You just go to Control Panel // Network Connections // Wireless Controller That You Use And Double Click It // View Wireless Networks // Choose the Network // Type in the Password

And you should be set. I hope I helped. I'm not sure if I understand.

PS: Thank god you didn't have to text all that. I'd kill myself if I had to. Thank god for the full keyboard, eh?

Ok, thanks. Our road, or avenue to be precise is kind of small, so the signal is pretty good.

I was using my phone GPRS so i couldn't google it, otherwise i would run out of credit. Our internet is still not working but i have not tried your solution.

Oh and by the way, i am not using Service Pack 2. I just have plain Windows XP.

Wow you must have some serious patience to play rs over a wireless network across a street :p

Anyway, not completely necessary, but since you are setting your wireless key now, it would be a good idea to create a WPA key with encryption instead, which would be much more secure.

Hope everything works out :)

You can check if someone is on ur net, go to command type netstat(s) -a
You can see the connections.( close everything first )

Sorry, i cannot because i don't know.

Your solution above did not work, as when i click on "Wireless Network Setup" (etc.), this error appears: FlashConfigsomething. As to the something, i don't know.
