I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but there may be programs out there to help you achieve this; use google.

Alternatively you could cover the light up with something or open up the computer and see if it is possible to manually detach the LED (presuming its an LED, if it is then I would suggest if you are going to replace it to use a similar value fixed resistor instead of the LED)

it would be nice if wouldn't have to mess inside the computer with the leds because:

1: i would have to fix it back

2: not actually my computer

3: i could mess it up really bad...

but ill try google any good ideas of what should i search for???

You want some kind of hardware control program, I know you can get them to specifically control the parralel ports and you want something similar to control LEDs connected to the motherboard

Hmm..There's not much lights to cover? :)
If u turn off:
Monitor, speaker, mouse(pull off. :D), keyboard(usually press numlock.), and there will be only computer activity light and power light. If i wud be u...hmm put there ur slippers or sport bag or towel or something.
IMPROVISE! :D ;) :p

If you mean that the light from your screen (moniter) is too bright, just turn it off. Yes your screen can be turned off and SCAR will run fine.

i've had that trouble before, open your computer, take off your hard drive for a while (just unscrew the screw) and cut the wires connected to light..

who would catch you?

Your parents are checking to see if the computer is off?

Turn off monitor speakers, numlock, tape over power button.

We leave our computers on all the time.

wouldn't they hear the fan/hard drive/processor/(INSERT ITEM HERE) any way

Like I know my compy is noisy so you can tell its on...
To solve that install a better quieter fan
Here is a link to quiet your computer (I'm assuming desky)

That's why it's good that I sleep in my own room and my parents don't check me. :) I don't know of a way to turn off your case's lights.

If you want to go really far, you can just open your case, and remove the wires that go the the LED Lights. Make sure not to unplug all the electrical wires that go to the power button block, just the ones that power the LEDs, or else your power button will cease to work

Well i have a friend who's parents dont what his Comp to stay on over night
-He unplugs light connections so no light can be shown but
-He's Comp is very noisy he oppned it removed the fan cleaned it good then screw all the screws properly and now its how an almost undetectable sound
that can't be heard from far
-If it doesn't work best alternative it to buy a new Fan

Remember to clean all over the computer usually a lot of dust after long time

Turn off your monitor?

I would suggest putting some not-very-adhesive tape on the light, so you can take it off later. (NOT duct tape)

Sounds like you've got a laptop? Just hide it under a couch ;)

if its a laptop, theres a setting, right click your desktop > properties > screen saver > power.

make sure it says never turn off hard disks, standby, or hibernate.

then click the advanced tab and where it says 'when i close the lid on this portable computer' make sure it says 'do nothing'

if it works, you should just be able to run it and close your monitor and it will still run, but the screen will be off.

works for laptops, i do it because my laptops in my room and i want it off to sleep

Lol, cuz there's a lot of mosquitoes over here in summer, i just put a small book in front of the light, push my chair against the book so you cant see it, and turn up the fan to really high so the fan will drown out the noise of the fan inside my computer.

Problem is, my internet is froma router, and the router is in my parents room,a nd they switch it off for the night. lol

Try cleaning ur fan..It will make a difference if u havnt cleaned it in a while..And try and disconnect the cables to the led lights..no dmg will be done just run ur fingers through the cable on the mobo..the connector should be small..And if ur comp/laptop is that noisy try puttin a flat piece of card board underneath the base unit

If Its mainly the lights that are the problem, try applying some electrical tape over the area. It comes off very cleanly, and no light can get through. If you try something very large to block your computer, you may cause it to overheat if you accidentally block a fan.

Good Luck

If it's because of a fan, you could just do what I do and remove the entire side panel from my computer :)

My computer never overheats, and the fans only go on after using 100% CPU for over 5 mins ;)

How you make it quite is by getting a cardboard box and filling the inside with egg cartons (empty!). Dampens it quite a bit. If there aren't cartons, use uhm... Can't think of anything.

I can't begin to express how bad of an idea this is.

The ONLY time you should ever remove a fan is if you have another one to replace it. Other then that, you run the risk of overheating and doing damage to the computer.

As for the lights, unplug the monitor (or just hit the power button to the monitor), open the case and unplug the HDD and PWR LED connectors, If the computer is on, you could unplug every little light connector with little problem, just realize that you'll have to plug in the power connector sooner or later.

Since I use wifi in my house I usually hide it in the most random places...

Toilet, kitchen... etc :p

Places where nobody would go at night and where your parents can't hear ^^

what are you asking for, and if your asking for what i think it is your asking for then why the hell would you want to do that in the first place? (explaning the scenario helps me think)...you could just use S.M.A.R.T. and use a program called TASKBAR HIDE? (its very old but it does work, but you got to buy it, but you can easily get a crack, but its kinda buggy, but shouldn't be too much of a problem) lol

For me i just cover the lights with a pillow or something then for the fan part i cannot really change that....that is really my only problem. Even if my parents don't find out when i go to sleep that fan becomes really annoying.

I'd say just cover the lights don't try anything stupid like leaving your computer on without a fan in it, your computer will over heat -.-

My parents confronted me about it once, and they forced me to turn my computer off at night. For some reason which they couldn't figure out (lol ._.), whenever I switched off my computer the router "mysteriously" gained a new WPA password that no-one knew.

All of a sudden they weren't bothered whether my system was on or not <3
