Hi ... I'm just curious what machine is needed for proper scar autoing. I have tried Pwnaz0rs autominer and it slows down runescape just too much. I managed to get it runnig it by commenting out all random detections but of course it's not the way I like it. I guess random detection is pretty resource hungry (it has to scan entire screen often to detect players name, if I understand if correctly). So ... How hungry it is really is? (and is it even possible with my ancient machine?)
Running under vmware 6, guest: windows xp, ~300mb ram, host: ubuntu gutsy, 512mb ram, athlon xp 2200+ (I'm planning to get more ram very soon, but I don't think it's the issue anyway, because no swapping occurred during my scar session - judgin by hdd led on my box:-)) ... and yeah .. sorry if this post belongs to vm forum :-)...
I think MORE ram would be a little helpful. I say if you can run scar with Runescape then you can auto.
Yes, you definitely need more ram, it will work much better. Scar can be ram hungry....
My 2gigs works perfectly.

You can run SCAR with SMART with Wine without problems (except, if I remember right, if your mouse goes over the button at the bottom, the screen will turn black). Getting rid of that VM should help lots.

yup I know. I'm just a bit afraid of wine (I guess it can cause silent errors - for example some {un|badly}implemented api, could result in unnatural behavior = possible detection/ban). And also I personally don't like using wine for mission critical stuff, which autoing of course is :-)
As I said earlier, memory is not really the issue here, because I'll be buying ~1G of memory soon (I need it for other purpose than autoing of course).
So far I was blaming my cpu for "freezing" (no visible disk activity, commenting out cpu intensive parts of code resulted in speedup). But it seems everybody here agree it's the memory issue, so I've still have a slight hope.... (I'm not going to buy new a CPU soon, I better get drunk or something :-))
actually ... while typing this post I probably convinced myself to give wine a shot on the weekend .. got other (non-)scar issues I need to sort out right now :-)
thanks again for tons of ideas guys ;)

I used wine for awhile before I got windows back (after I accidentally deleted it). As I was scripting/running scripts, I saw absolutely no errors in script running, if that's any consolation to you :)

EDIT:
sorry, i was being nagged by my little bro while typing. =p
ok i will delv much deeper into what i was saying.
his computer is about .5 gig ram and 2.2ghz processer, a new comp at 450-500$
run at 3 gig ram (6xmore)
and easily 6gHz, aswell as muchbetter video cards and hard drives.
and to buy 3 gigs ram is about $120-$150 dependingn the speed.
and a 6ghz processer is right around $120 and a new 500giga byte hard drive is about $90
so you can upgrade your current comp for $350 or buy a n one for $450
while that is deffentetly more expensive, the current computers mother board will most likely go in 1-2 more years. and you won't beable to use the stuf you upgraded with.
at least this is mho
and he also said he needs more speed for other thing then rs and autoing, so a new comp would probably suit him very well.
just buy a new comp, upgrading that old of one is some what useless for what $400 can upgrade, or just a new comp, it's basically the same price
Are you high or something?
An extra 1gb of ram costs like 80 bucks, while a new computer that won't be a piece of shit is at least 1000.....
I don't think his problem is with RAM cuz I have 512 mb of RAM and every script works fine for me. Also he has Athlon which is better than Sempron which I have:( I agree with bullzeye, get rid of the VM

allright then ... btw thanks for even more good news ! I'm not going to buy a new machine right now because I know I would waste all my time playing all those shiny games then (rs is a pretty good time waster already:-)) ... btw I'm not sure if sempron is better than athlon .... but the good thing it's not definitely much worse so getting rid of vm could be a good idea ...
