At first i had some very minor problems with my computer.

Then my dad came up with the brilliant idea to open up the computer.

So we opened it up, cleaned out the fans

1/2 of the time we had video
when we had video it would start up, show the win XP startup screen then restart for no reason

Then my dad came up with another brilliant idea! To put more thermal paste on the prosesor. So we did that and now we have no video at all.:(

Now, I start up i hear the fans spinning i hear everything going on some lights that are supposed to be on go on. But still, no video

one thing i notice is that when i have video the lights on the keyboard go on, and when i don't have video they don't go on...

Power supply tested : brings all the correct amounts of power

Took the thermal paste of again... no difference

HELP!!!

new computer, and no video: your video card is probably burned up, not your processor...

If it dont show anything at all not even BIOS i will think that its your Video card ther is burnt or somthing...If it showing the BIOS then go check you RAM

Nope, no video at all, not a single pixel!

----------------------------------------

i have tried

-clean the cpu fan and cpu of all paste.
-put the cpu back in, be sure to 'rock' the lever a couple times then lock it
-put a thin layer of paste just on the raised center of the cpu
-put the cpu fan back on, make sure it's not on backwards, there is a right and wrong way for most fans. make sure the heatsink fits tight and level on the cpu
-clean the contacts on the memory (eraser or clean plastic abrasive pad) and put back in
-clean contact on video card the same way and put back in
make sure both ram and video are fully seated into the sockets.

now the cpu doesn't even warm up when i run it :O
