Logitech Laser mouse. I have a combo keyboard/mouse. The mouse owns. WAY better then optical. Even those its wireless the batteries last 5-6 months for me, I think I've only have changed them 4-5 times depending how much I use my desktop. (over a 2 year period)

Choose a mouse thats very responsive, although it isn't just the mouse it's the surface the mouse is on, i have a trust gx10i mouse, costs around $90 bucks but you can still get a normal optical from walmart that works equaly as good :)

i have some logitech mouse/keyboard combo kit thing. But I'm about to buy a G15 and a G5. The G5's are going cheap now since the G9 came out. See if you can grab one.

when you buy the g15 look at which one you buy, theres a first and 2nd gen. the first gen has more programmable keys but the 2nd gen one looks a little better, i bet you could get a first gen one for a little less. and unless you really have your heart set on a mouse logitech's mx revolution is really nice, a g7 looks really sexy too

G5 or the G7.
Basically the same mouse except one is wireless and runs on batteries. Don't worry it comes with 2 battery packs and a USB charger for them(also the receiver for the mouse)
I personally like the G5 more, as with the G5 you still can change your mouse weights, while with the G7 you cannot.
G7 = wireless
G5 = wired

but the g7 is so sexy[/mildly off-topic slash plain weird]
how many weights are there on the g5?

I am strongly against wireless mouse it's just the most annoying thing having you mouse skip or the batteries die on you right when your in the midst of a heated battle :p. The logitech G7 or G9 are both great mice it depends on what you want to do with your mouse be it FPS games or just surfing the web. I have a G9 it's a great mouse the only down side is that it's a bit small for my hand and it comes with a fairly high price tag. What ever mouse you get make sure it has 2000+dpi other wise you'll have to throw your hand around like a mad man :D. I use about 2600dpi on my G9 even though it can go to 3200dpi. BTW WIRELESS FTL

For me, the Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse®Explorer 2.0 works great for shooting games (WarRock, GunZ). And great for overall for anything. It feels very comfortable.

The Razer Deathadder is pretty good, i have the razer lachesis and well, it screws up sometimes and just screams to be broken, but when it isn't begging, it's alright, but overall i like the Deathadder more...But if you do go with Logitech, get the g7, it's wireless and actually good, unless the usp receiver starts to break or bend.

i got a Logitech G7 and i love it...you can change the speed on the mouse, comes with two batteries so you can charge one up while you use the other one and when one is used up then you switch. Super fast response time, and i have never had any problems with it. Bought it for about 65$ at compusa

And who do you think paid the government to pay the schools? Your tax dollars did. Or if not you then your guardian did.

-.- So if they paid for it, it's not stealing. Fix what you said, please? :]
And I don't think this would be a grave dig; it's helpful information, in my opinion.
never heard of a gaming mouse :S

I'd recommend a Logitech MX Revolution Laser mouse. It works on virtually any surface that isn't really bumpy or clear (such as glass or in mid air over multiple surfaces :P). Lasts around 9-10 days on a charge, but charges in about two hours. It's got a lithium battery (I think), so if you run out, you can throw it on for five minutes and play until you have time for a full charge. It comes with software and every button (except left and right click) on the mouse is customizable. If you have average sized hands, it fits your hand really well, which is also a plus.
Pros:
Fits hand.
Customizable.
Very accurate.
Fast charge.
Cons:
Semi-short battery life.
Paint on the bottom of it comes off (with the model and serial number and such).
Costs a hundred dollars :P.

logitech G5. It has built in mouse speed (there are 3 settings default, and with software you can make up to 5 settings for speed), and it comes with weight! i just fill mine with the 4.5 gram pieces :P
