Windows Xp and Vista Tips

Some of these tips are from Maximum PC Magazine, some from others.
I think people would find this useful.

Take Better Screen Shots Vista Only

1. Go to Windows Search

3. There should be at least one search result. And that should be the Screen Shot Tool.

This tool is useful because you just take sections of a screen. To copy.
This is also under accessories. Its what i used for the pictures.:D

Common Key Combinations that are useful. Vista and some XP


Alt + F4
Close a program. (I'll be surprised if you don't already know this.)

Alt + Tab
Switch between programs screens.

Shift + Del
Bypasses the recycling bin and deletes the files.

Shift + Tab
Tab backwards through a from.
################################################

Windows Key + B
Brings a selection thing over Taskbar icons on the right.

Windows Key + D
Minimizes all program windows, if you press it again it brings up all
programs that were up.

Windows Key + E
Brings up Windows Explorer (Not Internet Explorer) to my computer.

Windows Key + F
Brings up Windows Search.

Windows Key + L
Lock Computer of brings you to the logout dialog box.

Windows Key + M
Minimizes all open windows.

Windows Key + R
Brings up the Run box.
################################################

Windows Key + Tab
Brings up cool thing, that allows you to tab through program windows.

Windows Key + U
Brings up Windows Utility Manager.

Have you accidentally... Vista and XP

If you accidentally move a program window to far off screen.
1. You right-click the window of the program.
2. Select move.
3. Move the window of the program to where ever you want it.

Disable Highlighting of New programs. Vista and XP

To get rid of this:
1. Right click on the Start Button.
2. Go to properties.
3. Select the Start Menu tab, and click customize.
If using XP: Click the Advanced tab.
4. Scroll down and unselect "Highlight newly installed programs".

Cheat at Minesweeper and Pinball and others Vista and XP

Minesweeper:

Windows Key + D
To Minimize, then restore it to find time has stopped.

Pinball:

lmax
Type this at the start of a new game for additional balls.
################

bmax
Type this at the start of a new game for unlimited tries and a
unbeatable score.
################

hiddentest
Type this at the start of a new game, and the if you hold down the
left mouse button the mouse will follow the ball.

I'm not sure if these will work on Vista, but they might.

Maybe if you don't know Shift*** + Tab then you also might not know Alt + Tab(switch between programs), Tab(move through form), Alt + F4(close program), Windows Key + L(lock computer or logout dialog box), Windows Key + R(run...), Windows Key + D(basically like minimize all except afterwards you can push again and all that were not minimized before come back up), Windows Key + E(Opens Explorer(not IE) to My Computer)*, Windows Key + U(utility manager), Windows Key + F(Search), Windows Key + B(not sure but it does something...)

And thats about it for now if I find anything new in my brain or computer I'll post...
I'd like to see something I don't know... :)

* Yes... I admit at this point I was trying all different combinations...

to pinball add "hidden test" that will allow you to use the mouse to control the ball. Just hold the left click button down.
