TinyXP for the win.
1) Do not need to use WINE, etc to load SCAR.
2) Friendly interface like Windows.

So Linux isn't user friendly?
I feel like a noob, but I have nothing better to do while at work :)

Well it depends on what Distro (Operating System, as us Windows nubs call it ;)) you get. I am just born and raised on Windows, and that is why I think it is easier. But I hear the Ubuntu Distro is user-friendly :)

Does anybody have a non-biased view unlike ours, the Windows Nubs?

I prefer windows as that is what I have used for ever. But linux (ubuntu is anyway, which is very windows like) Is faster

But for Ubuntu (maybe other distros, idk NUB RIGHT HERE) you need wine, I have no idea what that is plus it sounds scary...

ubuntu is supposed to be one of the best. and since you can get ubuntu for free legally(idk if tinyxp is legal), then i think linux is better.
actually i ordered a ubuntu cd like 2 weeks ago, so i can tell you the speed difference when i get it :)

it is 100% dependent on what you want to do with your computer. You cannot just say 'TinyXP or Linux' (because there's a distro for every need). Im guessing you want to do 2 things with your personal computer, 1. Run runescape (java is avalible on nearly all distros so is not a problem), 2. run scar (can be easily run through Wine). I personally use Ubuntu which I find much faster then a bare install of WinXP and is actually easier to navigate then xp. Also, after you fully patch your windows, it becomes fragmented and slow. Ubuntu's patches replace the old one.
You should shop around avalible linux distros to find what you want, best bet is Ubuntu. PS- for Ubuntu, you need 512mb ram, but as you said 'faster' and not resource saving, I guess you dont have a problem with that.

Well it's a Celeron 1.7 GHz 128Kb cache, 1Gb Ram and Integrated Graphics (if that really matters) and yes all I want to do is run RS and Scar

I told you, just use SMART, it's much faster than using a VM!

i still need to choose a better os for my Celeon. Currently I have tinyXP on it but if linux is faster ill either put Linux on it and run it or fry my HD because i formated it too many times. :stirthepot:

Ubuntu is uber alright i always liked fedora though. wine is just a Windows emulator that you call to run on windows executable files and it will run the windows app inside linux. pretty nice it can emulate the direct x as well.
