Yah totally agree, use tor.
To make your life easier too, for when browsing the internet, usign a firefox extension for tor called TorButton - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2275
Allow you to switch between the proxy in a single click :)

Maybe run Tor/Vidalia?
Maybe run Tor/Vidalia?
what i did was... i clicked on tor disabled, than there comes: tor enabled (so it works) and than it blocks connections..

Ah, I've never tried it for Runescape, but my guess would be that the server you're running through (the proxy you're using), doesn't allow for files to be written to itself (and when you run Runescape it puts files on your PC).. It would probably be a problem with the proxy you're running through.
Only solution I can think of would be to find a proiate proxy - owned by you or a friend or something (not really worth the hassle though) or just play runescape normally :P not really much of a need for a proxy unless you're IP banned, going to dupe alot, going to scam Jagex (pin exploit or something)... In which case you might wanna do it at friends houses or librarys etc..)

Yah go Tor. I have Tor on a USB drive so I can use it on the go!

To proxy runescape you either must proxy using Java (not sure how) or make a system wide proxy..

Or an unsigned applet, Raymond.

Does an unsigned applet give you an pop-up with the text "Select your proxy here:"..?

Guys are going about it all wrong :p...
Step 1:
Register on this forum (it's not mine, just a nice forum I found for proxies)
http://proxiecentral.proboards79.com
Step 2:
Once registered, login and go to:
http://proxiecentral.proboards79.com/index.cgi?board=rtyrtyrt
Find a thread with Socks 5 proxies, and check them (to see if they work) with this website:
http://www.checker.freeproxy.ru/checker/
On the Proxy Checker website, select Socks 5 as the drop down menu option.
Once it says one of them work, open up FireFox and go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings
Select Manual Proxy radio button, and then select the Socksv5 radio button. Now type the proxy you found that works in "SOCKS HOST", nowhere else.
Should get you going, then you go to Runescape.com and load the server you want to play on. If it doesn't load or won't let you login, go back to your proxy settings and check the radio button "Direct Connection to the Internet".
This works for me at school, and it's one of the only fast and effective ways it works.
(Yes, I did type up all this just for you.)

Try using a new proxy.
To test if it really works, go to Google.com first with the proxy you tried.
kk i'll try again;)
btw.. how do i see wether i am using a proxy or not?
EDIT: when i finally find a working one..
i check that one again..
and than it doesn't work in scan :(

Instead of using that proxy checker I linked you to, try downloading Charon and using this instead:
http://www.project2025.com/charon.php
Make sure you have it check for Socks 5 Proxys.
