Your Guide To Giving and Receiving Reputation


You may or may not have heard of reputation, it is know as rep to most people and is a way of showing how useful you posts are on SRL.


Giving Rep

To give reputation to some you will have to look in the corner of people posts, you will see 2 symbols there:

The first one which is the http://www.srl-forums.com/forum/images/satellite/buttons/reputation.gif is to give people positive comments about there post. When you click this button you will see a little box come up to say what you think of there post. Note: I find it nice when people leave there name so you know who to thank, but its up to you.

The second one which is the http://www.srl-forums.com/forum/images/satellite/buttons/report.gif is to say that someones post is negative. This is only to be used to report spam posting, swearing, posting agaisnt the rules, and advertising upapropriate things. When you click thsis button it will take you to a page to post why you are reporting this persons post.



Receiving Rep

When you receive rep on a post you have made you can either see that you have received it by clicking on the post you have made, then it will list all the rep for that post, and also a total of how many rep points you have in total.

The other way is to go into your control pannel and see your latest reputation on the main control pannel page.


How Rep Affects You


Rep used to affect people by them getting SRL Members when they got 25 rep, but this got removed and now you just apply.

You will see under you name that you will have little green boxes, this indicates how much rep you have. The green boxes look this if you don't know:

You get another box everytime you get 100 rep points, so...

if you had 0-100 you would have:

100-200

200-300

and you get more until it goes off the page.

The most anyone on SRL has is 4 green boxes.



Admins and Rep

Admins have a power of 10+ when they rep you post as there are a lot less of them so its less common to get it.

Might want to add the comments you gets underneith the green square.
Like

- Is On a Distinguished Road
- Says why you reading this for? go script!
- Will become famous soon enough
- Can access the script-section
- Is just really nice.


And the other squares you can get red, grey, blue and purple (i think).
Comments for them:
- Says dont even think about spamming!
- Is an unknown quantity
- has a little shameless behaviour in the past.

and alot more!

Hmm, could you say what each of those different comments is for, like how many squares/rep points you need.

Im not sure but the blue one is if you have 0 rep.
And the others admins assign.

I've read a lot of posts where people said things like "rep++." Now I actually understand what that means. I did know that it meant reputation, but I hadn't figured out how the rep. system works on these forums. I didn't know about the positive reputation rankings(the green boxes.) Thanks for the tutorial! You're about to be the first person I leave positive reputation.
