Well, my roommate and I have a spare computer in our room and we are trying to set it up as a crappy server.

We got Ubuntu running on it, and did an "Apache" thingy. We are pretty much Linux noobs.
I can get to the "website" by going to this place http://192.168.1.128/xampp/
but we think it is because we are on the same router/network

So...how do get a website up and running and stuff?
is the Linksys router interfering?

Thanks for any help!

You would have to have people type in your IP in the address bar.

that 192.####### is a local ip. That is processed by your router. you will want to enable port fowarding on port 80 to this ip. You will also want to find out what your global ip is. (http://whatismyip.com/ or something) With this ip, you will be able to access your server from anywhere. If you want words to type in the address bar that you can choose, you will want to register a domain name, and direct it towards this global ip.
