Hey everybody! I was bored so I tested my Words Per Minute (WPM). It's around 30~35 WPM... I would like to kick it up to 45~55 WPM in about 2~3 months! So if any of you know a very good typing program please tell. And yes, I have "GOOGLED IT NOOB!" but I don't know what is a good one...

P.S.:If you think I use "~" and "..." too much you are right and should get a cookie!

Heh, I got from 30 WPM to about 80 in about 2 months at school. Tbh all we did was take text (sometimes words, sometimes just letters) and type it over and over :p

Atm I type about 90 WPM. I guess playing the piano helps :p (Well I used to anyway)

Yah I play the piano too but I suck. But no one can name a single program? BTW I'll probably get it for free from my peers... If ya catch my drift

I learned from Mavis Teaches Typing or somethin like that and my school uses Microtype Pro...

Just type alot...it also helps to have something written out to type so that you dont pause as much as if you were typing somethin from your head...unless you haev a steady flow of thoughts that you want to type...w/e floats your boat.

random: I played the piano a long time ago...i might start that again...

yeah, i type like... effing fast... mostly because of my activity on forums, rs, and irc..

msn / myspace too... just ... find something fun that involves typing..
that , pretty much puts rs out of the picture though-

the more you type, the better you get. using different software just gives you something to type, but if you type up big posts on the forums a lot or go on aim with your friends a lot, you can increase your WPM from just the experience and getting used to the keyboard and where the keys are, so you can hit them w/o looking at the keyboard.

Yea I never really used a program to learn how to type except for some 2nd-3rd grade class, and my WPM is around 90. I guess RS helped some from merchanting and all that and typing the same things over and over, as well as MSN and AIM. Also, a fun game called stepmania helps finger speed, its like DDR for the keyboard, pretty fun. and piano of course, 9 years ftw

School didn't do much for me really, I took a computer applications class and went in the first day with a GWAM of like 65 WPM. It gets really old typing non stop everyday for an hour a day and it becomes repetitive. We had standardized testing at the end of the year that we had to take for computer applications to pass. I typed 115 WPM got the highest GWAM in my district... I only use my index fingers for typing and my thumbs to hit my space bar. Don't waste your time trying to type on the home row with all 5 fingers and all that junk because it just wastes time, do whats comfortable.

If you can't type without looking at the keys it slows you down so buy a key cover(the ones we used at school were called speed skins or something haha). It's a little thin rubber cover that goes over your keys and annoys the crap out of you until you eventually stop looking at the keys so you don't have to use it anymore.

Just a basic site like http://www.typingtest.com/ will work. Do a few of those tests on there a day until you start seeing improvements. Theres no real like amazing site that guarantees to boost your GWAM just typing and practice. But make sure to switch up the text so you don't learn the words and it becomes second nature to type. Like typing your name over and over, that will do nothing for you. Or even typing the same paragraph from the test over and over, it just wont help.
