Dammit my strings are rusted just happened this week and i got to try-out for a band so, anyone who plays Guitar tell me a fast way to clean them (not buy them cause i may not have that much time).
will grease work?

Well....they won't sound very good, even you get them clean....
but you could stick them in tomato juice for awhile....that removes tarnish...and adds a delicious flavor :p
EDIT:
or replacing them would be the best idea...for quality...but if you are really worried, maybe you could borrow one of their guitars or something for the tryout

well....wd-40 would get some of the rust off...probably, but the strings would probably still sounds pretty bad...since rusting actually removes small parts of the metal...so I would probably buy a new set, and mess around with those rusted ones and see if you can get them back into some sort of shape...and maybe use them as super short term replacements if you break one or something. But even if your get most of the rust off, they will be weakened and not sound as good as a new pair
EDIT:
I don't know much about guitars, but if they make some sort of light lubrication for the strings that you can apply every once in awhile it would probably be a good idea to invest in a bottle/jar/can of that (I'm pretty sure they would make a lube like that). It would help out if you live in a humid area...I see you live in Texas...(I think :p) and I'm not sure about the humidity there...but I'm guessing it would be greater than it is here by some degree. I've never seen any of my friends with guitar lube, but...I HAVE seen a spray can at the music store at work it, it lubed the strings up so you can slide your fingers easier with less friction, I'm sure that would work pretty well. Good luck gettin into that band
EDIT2:
lol...my edit is longer than the original post! :p
EDIT3:
HEY!!!! I just got community member status!!!! :O cool, lol
EDIT4:
nah, I'm joking, there is no edit4, but I like how many times I edited this o_O
EDIT5:
(this one is real) when you buy some strings, it would probably be a good idea to pick up a spare set too. If you have the moneys to invest in not going to the store later when one breaks...or rusts again :p

IF i was you I would just try some kind of grease. It could remove some of it but it might have an odd tone. Also, I got a guitar like 6 months ago and my came with some extra strings, so maybe check to see if you can find some strings hanging around. But the best bet is to buy new ones. Also again you could maybe ask some peeps if they have extra strings.
EDIT** Just because Brain was editing i thought I should..

UNINSTALL THEN RE-INSTALL YOUR GUITAR. IT'S SUCH FUN TYPING IN CAPS.

replacing them would be the best way since your rusted strings would sound worse than the new 1s

rofl....and then if that does not work, try a system restore to right after you installed them originally
and I don't know how much new ones cost :p

depends on how good the strings are. u should get ernie ball super slinky strings,
they have a good feel and sound. i think theyre around $5 USD.

I would just buy new strings, probably cheaper and easier than trying to fix your old ones.

Just go to a music store with your gutiar and ask for some new strings >_> They usually install them for you really well and put em on for ~$20.

The actual guitar strings are pretty cheap, about 6-7 dollars. You might want to get them professionally installed and tuned though. Tuning can be pretty difficult if youre new and dont have an electronic tuner :P
