Well, i have connected an Ethernet cable to go from the xbox to a Ethernet bridge i think its called. Then i had another Ethernet cable go from my router to the bridge intercept/Wall jack, what ever its called.

Here (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://cdn.overstock.com/images/products/L10873417.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Netgear-XE102-Wall-Plugged-AC-Ethernet-Bridge/2677904/product.html&h=602&w=650&sz=17&hl=en&start=17&um=1&tbnid=i-MiNgvsZT7GBM:&tbnh=127&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dethernet%2Bbridge%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den% 26sa%3DN)

That is what im talking about. Just it doesnt plug into a outlet, its just sitting on the wall like a phone jack.

well here is a better picture (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i.techrepublic.com.com/gallery/163646-348-508.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/wireless/%3Fm%3D200709&h=508&w=348&sz=20&hl=en&start=17&um=1&tbnid=AMhHbiNcvhjb4M:&tbnh=131&tbnw=90&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dethernet%2Bjack%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26 sa%3DG)

And its just like that. but not that product.

and my internet (obvisouly) and phone are working fine.

So now everything is plugged in, and im excited to go test it.

I go where the 360 is and i go to settings and network settings. Like ( tests the connection);

Here is the order it checks..
THis is what i got

network adapter: Wired;
IpAdressConfirmed:confirmed;
dns: Failed;

So im wondering if theres a way i can fix this. Or if there is a way to manually get the dns address and secondary dns address. Cause on xbox u can enter it manually if u wanted..

Dont ask these questions..:

Why not move your xbox near your router instead.
Why not just get the wireless adapter.

Well with my setup, I have it set to detect the DNS automatically. It has no problems with the tests when I run it after that. See if it set up to detect automatically.

You can also find your DNS by typing in: netsh interface ip show config, into command prompt. From there command prompt will show you your configurations, including the DNS.

I still got my dns sever ips from ipconfig /all and put em in manually and it still didnt work. And when i did automatic it didnt detect it.

With mine I run my xBox direct from my router.

To be honest, I think you should just get a router, plug the modem into the router and use 2 ethernet cables from the router to computer/xbox

Make sure you have DNS set to auto. Sometimes it wont work unless you got it set like that. PS3's have built in wireless which owns the xbox.

Try searching Google for some help on getting your DNS to work, I unfortunately have the exact same problem but have been unable so solve it for a while. Microsoft has some support articles on those problems also although you may just want to try resetting your Xbox 360's settings to default. Unfortunately PS3's built in wireless is a bit useless thanks to the lack of good online play.
