I was considering taking up SCAR programming to help the community and myself along with autoing in Runescape (and other games). So I was wondering how deep the learning curve was...
I've got huge experience in PHP, average experience for Perl and C++, and minimal experience in Javascript. I'm probably one of the biggest nerds in my state for my age group (Beat 99% of the state in IT)
How different is SCAR from other programming languages? And what is the hardest part of learning it? Is the function scope, variable declaration, etc - any harder? Looks to me the hardest part is pixel/color detection - hopefully SRL provides an easier way to do it...
How long did it take you to master SCAR?
(If it's anything like ActionScript, I'm not touching it :(h): )

Scar looks a lot like delphi, and a lil like visual basic 6 IMO.

hmm it didn't took me long, just read enough tuts, look at other people scripts, and try to understand what your doing.
I don't think scar is that hard to lear, so i wich you good luck with it.

It is much easier then most of those style scripting...
As long as you use includes...
functions are like

Thanks for the feedback!
I will definitely try out scripting. Who knows, maybe I might even create a super advanced script :p
EDIT: After a bit of research, it seems the language is very similar to Pascal. In fact - I would say that the language IS Pascal. Hmm... Very interesting.

Yo, the language is pascal ^^
Scar is probably the easiest language out there IMO. No hard functions, the variable declaration is as easy as metling butter in the sun (of course in summer ;)), and the color finding is logical, so the hardest thing is if you want to include forms, and they are only optional, so yeah, with your programming experience, you should be able to learn it within a week or two (even i managed to learn it that fast ;))

Haha, I thought so. The colon (:) for variable declaration gave it away. Looks like I'm going to have to learn Pascal :)
A week's learning curve sounds easy enough, if I can fit it into my tight schedule.

Took me one or two months to learn the language (pascal), then within 2 to 4 made my first script :)

Although you might want to keep in mind, SCAR isn't exactly like pascal.
