so don't buy a bad copy of vista?

also, if you change your harddrive or any system component, vista wil stop working until you buy it again. Your probably best off just getting a pirated one without all the hassle.

No, if he changed it, you can try to get a replacement key through the phone. You simply tell the *computer* operator that you had to make some major hardware changes, and that, yes, it is only on one computer.

this copy came pre installed on a brand new acer laptop that ive had for 9 months
