I've only actually tried 6 or 7 of the scripts in here, and of those only 1 actually worked for me. I have downloaded a TON of scripts from here however.

I'm more interested in writing my own, but seem to spend A LOT of time writing little snippets of test code to figure out how things work, what things are broken in SRL, what aren't, and how to get around that, you get the idea.

If I am trying to figure out how to do something I will search all those other scripts and see what others came up with. (Usually 6 ppl will come up with about 10 different ways to do the same thing) After studying their work for a bit I try to come up with something of my own that works.

So, am I leeching by downloading all these scripts, but not contributing a script back (YET!)???

No you aren't leeching; leechers just come to the community, grab the scripts they want and make no contribution. Just because you haven't contributed yet doesn't mean you're a leecher as you intend to contribute so it's all good!

yea, agreed, your taking these scripts to learn from, and from what you said you aren't using them for personal gain in RS. Goodluck with learning to script. And if any of my scripts can help you at all your more then welcome to use them..... if you can find them, haven't been here in a few months so I'm sure other threads have piled on top of them. But if you ever need help PM, I'll see if I can help you.

This is what I'm doing as well SpamThis. I don't play RuneScape at all and I'm studying all the tuts and scripts to see how people use them. I'm trying to make scripts for Eternal Lands. So far the tuts and scripts have helped alot. I've got a couple of scripts for Eternal Lands and they're working ok, but I'd like them to be failsafe, so I'm reading alot :)

Good luck and I hope you come right soon.

That's what I figured, but it never hurts to check. ;)

yea leechers just don't do anything but take scripts and then they leave and sometimes change it a little bit and post it on a different website.

This is how I learned. I've been here since April of last year.

I was here a year before I even read a tutorial.
I learned by thinking of a script to make, going to a script someone else made, looked at how they configured the procedures, then changing it to how I thought it made sense.

Leeching is downloading scripts for a very long time, not posting, not contributing anything back to the community.

By asking the question, you answered it.
No, you aren't leeching.

Leeching is taking from the community and not giving back. Your trying to learn about scripting to give some scripts back.

I suggest you read a lot in this section:

as markus said, if you were a leecher you wouldn't post this at all.
