Ya they waste away verrrry fast, u should stay awayfrom it if u dont got lots of moeny, unless u do..

firemaking and fletching are fast.... not combat but they fast...

Around 10-15k you should also use some Ranging Potions.

Cannonballs are about 30 xp each if I remember correctly.

Last time i checked it didnt depend on your Range Lvl, I hit a 30 with like 1-10 Range on a pure before, but it was awhile ago.

It still doesn't depend on your range level, few months ago I got like 1 -> 40 35 range in 25 mins (recorded it btw, like wtf :p).
Seeing as you got 70 range, why cannon? It's easier just to take mithril/addy bolts + accumulator and kill iron drags, and maybe faster XP too, cannon gives you the same xp max as like you hit 15, and is way more expensive.
