I was reading some article made by this guy on some weird forum (descriptive :D) and he claimed that he would be able to hack runescape using c++ scripting and some packet injector to get random items to drop below your character

Is this fake or is this actually possible?

It's fake. It was somewhat possible with AutoRune (back in Runescape Classic using fake packets on the trade screen), but now they encrypt their packets and have all sorts of traps. Sorry :)

I guess that person was making up a bunch of expensive words, without knowing RS is in Java, not C++, trying to look smart?

Um, hacks don't have to be written in the same language as the program they're trying to hack.

Yeah but if its meant to hack C++ and not Java then, it wouldn't work anyways.

It sounded to me like it was simply saying that the hack was written in C++, not that it was trying to hack a C++ program.

judging by the way he worded it, and the logic of the statement, i believe thats what he was trying to say.

To be truthful, it is possible, but not now. I'm sure that someone will make one, that will probably only for for a couple of hours. , and then JaGeX will update and squash it.

It's not impossible to hack Runescape. It's just beyond the skill of pretty much anyone who'd actually want to.

Like the others said it isn't impossible. There is a way to defeat any system or get around any security measures. It may just be really tough/above the level of understanding of many people. Also any item duper would be kept private for the amount of time it worked.
