Hey, I'm getting new PC and playing CS:S on this PC atm, I get a horrific 7.94FPS on the video stress thing, just wondering what other people are getting lol.

When I get new PC I'll post it's specs and it's FPS.

How old is your computer at the moment ?

It all depends on the specs of your computer. I personally get an average of 69.75 fps. The only thing what can help your computer run faster is a different configuration, which will put all setting below the lowest... Just google :css cfg low an you will find it

On CS 1.6 I can easily get 200+ but I've set 150 max atm
p.s:
To "pass" the hlengine's 99 max fps, console > 'developer 1'

Just change the settings to allow the console to open. Then when it's closed, write `net_graph 3. Then look at the right hand corner ;D
In my opinion, the video stress test is not an accurate resemblance of your FPS, etc. Durning normal de_dust2 play on CS:S with a lot of background programs, I get 40ms ping and ~75 FPS. On CS 1.6, I usually get 35ms ping, and ~100 FPS.

275-300 FPS with all highest settings, 1024x768 (crap monitor :().

EDIT: Didn't realize that it was capped to 300 by default. I get ~480 on the stress test.

TF2 - Same settings - 180+ - when a pyro flames it drops to about 170..
Ehm.

I use a 9800GT, with a 3.6 DC intel thingy overclocked to around 3.9

:)

and I can macro using smart in the background ;D

is it hard to overclock, I mean are there any ways that it could easily go wrong and that I would ruin my pc?

I mean, I might try and overclock my q6660, not the best but I still bott my pc <3

Yes, it's easy. You simply change the multiplier in your BIOS until you get it where you want it. But yes, it can easily go wrong -- if you're not careful. If you are careful, it most likely won't. Just go at tiny intervals (.05 to .3 ghz at a time I think, someone please correct me if I am way off here; I can't remember what I did). After each OC, boot into Windows and run Intel Burn Test. Monitor your temperatures with Real Temp. If they get to high, either clock back down, or get a new heat sink. You may have to change voltages to get where you want, but make sure you don't go more than what Intel says is safe (which is 0.85V to 1.5V according to newegg).

You'd be much better off looking up an overclocking guide than listening to me, but those are the basics.

Don't overclock if you are running the stock heatsink and fan for your Q6600.
