Today I tried loading up runescape and when I click "Members click here to play" I get a server cannot be found error. I went to a friends house and loaded runescape just fine off his wireless but yet its not working at home. I also check other computers in the house and those were not experiencing the same problem as I am. They were able to load runescape just fine. Anyone have any ideas? Am I ip banned?
I'm currently dual booting between Mac OS X and windows xp. Both my mac and windows partitions are not able to load runescape properly yet smart is able to.
Thanks
Edit: all other websites are working just fine except when I try to play runescape. I am able to access the forums and the news but I cannot login in any of the account management areas.
can you post on forums?
and try deleting your cookies and stuff..

How many bans have you gotten? Which of them were permanent?

Pertinent question. You could have been experiencing world editing... but I doubt it.
I believe it would tell you if you were IP blocked/you wouldn't be able to access the site. When did the problem start? Was it just today or has it been for a while?

Well, you can't be IP blocked, if other computers from your house have access, Ofcourse each computer has an unique IP but thats only for the use of the router, so the router would know which computer to transfer information to. If you would be IP blocked then the outer XP (the one of the routers) would be banned, since router has a firewall, and it wouldnt have any point banning your "inner" IP. So, if the outer IP would be banned, theres no way for access in any computers who use that router. :) try deleting your cookies and updating java :)

Try changing ip put this code into a notepad and save the file as IPChanger.bat
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
msg * Ip Changed
exit
That only works in some cases...

If SMART works then it's got nothing to do with IPs...

I feel like the biggest idiot. I deleted the jagex cache on both partitions and it loads now. I just find it odd that it happened both in xp and OS X. :/

Ok never mind. I'm having the problem again and deleting the caches isn't working now. Runescape works on all the other computer in the house except mine again.... WTFH
if you delete them too much, you can get ip banned I believe, happened to fakawi or someone I think.. (as a test)

Ok, I just figured out something odd. When I type runescape.com without www at the beginning, I am able to play. Like when I click "Click here for members" it adds a www.ect... and when I take out the www, the runescape game loads.
What causes this?
might be a problem with your internet.. you could contact your isp..

I don't think it has anything with my isp. Other computers in the house can access RS just fine. Read before you post.
Thanks

If you were Ip Banned you wouldnt be able to load www.runescape.com at all....It wouldnt work I was ip banned for 2 days until i changed my ip. But when i was it wouldnt let me load the page and i got errors in my jagex cache. If you go into your cache and look and see if there is and error1.txt or something. If not then it could just be ur pc or the isp...Check all blocks on websites too and update java mabye

I'm still having no luck at all. RS won't load what so ever and yet all the other computers in my house will load it.
EDIT: the suggestion with the commandline in a post above worked. What does that mean if it did? Was I ip banned? And how would I do this on my mac partition?
I did read the post, but nothing seemed to be working >.<
and you could read the post too ^^
(by n3ss3s)
and there's something similar to command prompt for macs, you could try this.. or google it >.>

Ugh it worked for a while now rs wont load again... and I ran the command in cmd again and its not working :/
it won't hurt you to tell your isp that you can't connect to a site.. they could fix it.. or call jagex >.>
probably not a great idea if you bot :p

Edit your hosts file in Windows. %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\. Remove "read only". Edit the file. Go to the last line. Make a new line. Add in: runescape.com[TAB KEY]www.runescape.com
It then should make your Windows think that the www.* is the same thing as without it. If this does not work, you should try switching your DNS settings with OpenDNS.com. Have fun :)
