Private Servers?

Is there a tutorial for: "How to make a private server".
I have searched, and as it is and should be common knowledge have found nothing. :p

If anyone has any advice, it would be appreciated. :)

I want one of my own, not hosted anywhere.

I don't think you'll find anything here about private servers. All about scripting.
