I think it found the database, but the username and password were not accepted also check the permissions on the username, make sure it has full write, blah blah, to the database, check the username and password for errors, if that don't help post back, and i'll give you something to help you solve the problem.

I'm not familiar with x10Hosting, however are you sure you actually created a user for the database? Did check the password/username? and yeah that is right, if you have done all of these I've just wrote about then copy and paste this file and fill in the correct values, save it as connect_mydb.php upload it then view it on your website. tell me what it says:

<?php
DEFINE ('DB_USER', 'USERNAME');
DEFINE ('DB_PASSWORD', 'PASSWORD');
DEFINE ('DB_HOST', 'HOST');
DEFINE ('DB_NAME', 'DATABASE NAME');

$dbc = @mysql_connect (DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD) OR die ('Could not connect to MySQL: ' . mysql_error());
@mysql_select_db (DB_NAME) OR die('Could not select the database: ' . mysql_error() );
?>

Host, host is the server that the database is on, free hosting usually does not allow your own domain as the server that the database is on.
It's usually a different domain, check your database information, it usually tells you.
