Intro:
Well Harryy inspired me to make this tutorial for new people using mIRC. Basically he was talking in the channel with 50+ people to only 1 specific person, and when I responded to him, he used his non-english made-up-language and said 'myob'. After urbandictionary.com (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=myob)'ing it, I found out it meant 'mind your own business'. So instead of letting that happen again, I will teach you guys how to Private Message in mIRC and many more things.

How to use Color!
1. Type the text you want to be color and highlight it:

2. click control + k to open the color menu

3. Click on the color you want. If you want a background color, you must manually add it. Normal colored text = X. Colored text with background = X,Y (x being a color number, y being the background color number...view colors and their corresponding numbers in the color menu).

4. Click enter to send the text

How to send a Private Message
1. Double click on a persons name in the channel.
2. A window will pop open. Type your text in that window, then hit enter. This message will only be sent to that 1 person.

How to use Auth
Intro: Auth (or authentification) is a system used in all IRC Servers. They are mainly used for op's and voice (administrators). What this system does is allows you to register a nickname. This way when your nickname is registered, only YOU can use it. So if you are granted administrative powers on a channel, no random person can come into the channel with your name and use the admisitrative powers.
1. change your nickname to the one you wish to auth by typing "/nick <new name>"
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k307/footbrawler03/auth1.jpg
2. Type in the following command: "/msg nickserv register <your-password> <your-email>"
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k307/footbrawler03/auth2.jpg
3. Lastly, complete the registration process by following the instructions sent to your email.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k307/footbrawler03/auth3.jpg
4. Next time you join the server, type "/msg NickServ identify <your pass>" in order to log in. (to automatically log in, refer to the How to use Preform section)

How to use Preform
Intro: Preform is the term given to mIRC automatically executing commands when you connect to a server (in our case, Freenode). What we want it to do is join the #srl channel and auth (authenticate) your nickname.
1. Click "Select Server"
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k307/footbrawler03/preform1.jpg
2. Choose "Options" then "Preform"
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k307/footbrawler03/preform2.jpg
3. Add the lines "/join #srl" and "/msg NickServ identify <your password>"
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k307/footbrawler03/preform3.jpg

General Rules - Note, these are not offical rules. Just general rules on how to act.
1. Do not use 1337 speak or abriviations such as 'u' for 'you'.
2. Respect each other - makes the community a better place.
3. Do not spam (or flood) the channel.

Thanks for reading, hope this helps new users.

Sorry guys, just found out color is disabled in our channel. Just ignore that part of the tutorial. If you go into other channels (some may also have it disabled), you should be able to use color.

Note: color will show up for YOU only. No one else will be able to see the color and/or all other types of formatting (bold/italics/etc.)
