OK guys, I am investing in the mortgage business.
I am making a website.
I need it to get to the top of google and other search providers.
I need some help, designing and how to get it to the top.

You will be able to provide a link to your website for some search providers and also don't forget your META tags:



<META name="description" content="Mortgage business by The Man">
<META name="keywords" content="mortgage, man, the man, etc, etc, etc">


Those will help your website get noticed by search engines :p

You need to get someone to make you the images for background etc, and write the content part ;)

html is pretty simple to learn, I know some things if you need any other help.

I don't want to discourage you or anything, but you're website will need to be P.E.R.F.E.C.T. to get in "on the top" in google, you'll need to use SEO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization). You're website will need alot of (unique) visitors, and usually, that's a multiple-year plan.

It's not as simple as poof, I want to make a website which is on the top of google. No, it's making a quality website, and maintaining it, if it's something alot of people are interested in, they will make link to your website and you'll get the visitors automaticly. Google can "see" that, and they'll give you a higher pagerank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_pagerank).

this may be a bit late, but..
someone mentioned meta tags, the fact is that they are near enough useless, fair enough there _was_ a time when _some_ browsers used them, but the major ones don't, so go ahead and add some lines of code - that's all they are, they don't add any values - if you must (:
