hey so yeah, im useing a free trial of Finale NotePad, and i thought i would just be able to get by with this picture http://z.hubpages.com/u/210038_f496.jpg and the program. But atm, im having some issues with sharps.
im trying to write [A# - D# - D - D#] but the D following the D# sounds like a D# even though its just a D. im wondering are there special rules with writeing notes where you have to declare a note after a sharp or it is a sharp to? or is it just a glich in the program that its makeing the wrong sound?
Edit: i figured it out i belive, i used some other symbol which i think is a natural and it made the D sound like a D xD

You can get issues with D# being the same as Eb. Or E# being the same as F. However, any sharp is always one half-step higher, and any flat is always one half-step lower. It must be a problem with the program or your ears if D and D# sound the same.

its not my ears haha, i realy hope i have good ears :S
its just the program made all notes after a sharp or flat also a sharp or flat if you dont use the natural symbol to make them back natural.
btw, now that im thinking about it, how would you know if your ears were bad for telling tones? are there any tests you can do on the internet? lol

yeh man if a note has a sharp then all the rest of that note in the bar are also sharped. the next D has to have a natural before it. it looks like an upside down 7 then a right way up 7.
like this (far right of image):

Also if you can define a key signature in this program (never used it) then you should... You'll have to deal with less sharps and naturals then.

wtf?
D# = Eb...
E# = F...
They should sound the same.
