Hi guys,
I have suddenly really wanted to learn a scripting language.
Many of you may know I am not the best scripter ever, so I would like something easy to use and easy to learn.
I am just downloading Visual Studio 2008 Professional.
Because someone said it is easy to learn and really good for making applications.
Cheers

Python is nice, fairly English like in most of it's areas like Pascal. It's a scripted language with the interpreter being free and runs under most systems.

Are you wanting to learn a scripting language or a programming language? Because if you're downloading Visual Studio, you're probably wanting to learn a programming language.

learn C++
or if you want something easy then apparently C# is easy, although it will apparently be outdated soon :p

C# is relatively easy. Actually, all the .NET languages are relatively easy.

I doubt you will get much support for it any where - with more common, multi OS languages you will find that there is usually lots of help. Freenode server on IRC has several channels - python, c, Java, perl and I believe it has one for pascal or free pascal too. The support will come in handy a lot later on if you want to delve deep into a language rather than just scratch the surface and create generic, simplistic programs. Of course, equal support can be found with google, but people are usually much better with problems.

i liked perl but i dont think its a very friendly-to-people-that-want-to-learn-an-easy-language language.

C++ is highly effective, if you get good at it you will be able to fuck with anyone you want. I would highly recommend it.

C# is quite straight forward and well structured. I prefer it to VB although VB is probably best for beginners
