Boot into the live CD, and resize it in GParted (System -> Administration -> Partition Manager I think?). To resize it, just right click on the Linux partition, and choose "Resize/Move." You can drag the right side of the partition on the screen that pops up to the left to shrink it. Now, (and I may be wrong here, as I'm in Windows right now) drag the whole partition to the right, where the free space is if your Windows partition is to the left of your Linux partition. If it's not, then leave it alone. Accept that, and then right click on your Windows partition -> "Resize/Move." Drag the right side of it to fill the free space created by resizing the Linux partition. Accept that, and click apply.
Again, I'm not sure if I'm completely right, but it should be very close to what I said.

The Ubuntu CD that you can boot up in. You installed Ubuntu from it, right?

You dont even need to boot from the Ubuntu CD though I dont think, you can just restart and load it from the start and do the same thing.

You have two options your not even thinking about.
You can dedicate your hard drive to windows and run ubuntu in qemu, or you can install virtualbox and dualboot windows up inside of ubuntu which is what I do.
Not only do you free up some space but now you have an extra mouse that could be dedicated to anything you want, someone say srl?
