I got a school laptop and it has 2 partions, C and D.

C is Vista, this is something I can't ghost or anything..

D is just to put your stuff in it, in 1 yr we will install linux on it.

I need help on how to dual-boot and then install XP on D.

I hope I provided you with enuf info :D

Just put in the disk AFAIK... and create a new partition during installation. Or you could always do it with the Disc Manager.
