Is it possible to have a link with red text and a grey square background without having to make it a image link?

Put it inside a table and set the table background to grey. Then CSS the red link.

I know this is somewhat gravedigging, but the replies on here are.. horrible.
of course it's possible, and not difficult at all
use a table? what.

background: #666;
color: #F00;
}
that'd give it a grey background and red text
