I got an idea which can be done easily but need someone to tell me if its good or bad.

Basic idea : You download a small app, and then you download some flash games from a site (I will create a site) and then u can browse different flash games by genres/ratings and so on.

You then unrar this and put the extracted folder in the same directory as the app (lets say app is in Desktop, then put the extracted folder there) and you can then run the program and it will create a database, which you can expand by downloading more games.

Once this is all done, you can just RAR it all and put in a USB and play anywhere you are!

This program will be OPEN SOURCE from day one, anyone can use my code to develop their own programs!

I will make as many features I can for the first version, including :

Download random games by genre (Will unrar and remove rar archives when everything is unrar'd)

Download game packs (weekly updated, will be a pack for every genre, to get newest packs to appear you need an internet connection, update takes less then a second)

Favorite system (these games will stick out more, allowing faster finding and faster play)

Thats my idea, this program will be open to the public, people can contribute code or suggest new features and best of all - you can make your own packs and share with everyone!

Language will be VB 6, I might make it in Java if its better (Java works on all OS)

I want to know the following :

1 : Do you think people would use this?
2 : Do you think this idea is worthless?
3 : Would YOU use this?
4 : Anything else you might wana say

I post this here cuz I posted somewere else and the people there just spammed, please be honest and no spam or flame.

Depends on the quality and type of games available

Not really, it's a good idea. Good experience.

3 : Would YOU use this?
It all depends on what type of games are available, and the quality of the games and app

4 : Anything else you might wana say
If you make it in VB 6 and need help or have a question, feel free to contact me. VB is my language of choice :p

8 is way better than 6. I have VS 2008 ISO's if you need the full version, Microsoft gave them to me :)

You get points for completing different flash games, the games get ranked etc.
Kinda like your idea, just Online ^_^.

That has about -100% to do with my idea, my idea is just to play offline, not to force people to play games (lol)

theres something like this called flash offliner, it doesn't rate them, but you can download them and keep them all together so you can play them offline. i don't think you can put em on a flash drive either. idk check it out maybe it'll help you in developing this more, if you got it running i'd definately use it instead of flashoffliner.

The idea is not to become the next EA games or Microsoft, its a simple, basic program to share with others with open source and since I'm in an IT line, this is good for me.

The idea is to share packs of games, play offline and just enjoy flash games.

I know this idea is really not the best magnet but I'm bored XD

I have always used Firefox with the Flash Video Downloader add-on. to download games... then I just copy the games out of the addon download folder... and wala.. there is oneway to get games for ya..
