Im getting a new one, decided to go with a decked out alienware, going to sell this one. How much do you think it would be worth:

*It's got a 80$ wifi card
*1GB of Ram
*About 14inch
*Graphics card is not all that good, can play RS on high but not for gaming
*2.39ghz processor, pretty fast
*Win7 Pro
*80 Gig hard drive, two partitions so you can put on a linux easily
*Battery is a little more then a hour - comes with charger

The real value is what it would come with:
*Basics (Firefox, Notepad ++ ect)
*Macromedia Flash CS3
*Softimage XSI 7.0
*Camastia Studio
*Uttorent

Games:
*Diablo 2
*Half life
*Counter Strike Source

How much do you guys think that would be worth? And could i get in trouble for selling it with the software on it?

probably about half what you paid for it, depending on how old it is.

Whatever you do manage to get for it, I'm sure you're not going to be too happy with it. I don't think it's worth much at all.

$100-200, that's about it. No one will pay extra for content on it, except maybe the OS. Computers don't get good re-sell value, mostly because they want new parts with guarantees.

No, its not, for example:

That, buy itself is 3grand.

Unless ofc you are refering to piracy.

Nobody's going to pay $3000 for a laptop because it has a certain program on it. It's about hardware and maybe OS.

The low battery-life is a big no-go for a laptop, and the software really doesn't add that much value to it.
And don't tell me you paid $3k for SoftImage, you wouldn't sell it then.
80gb hard disk also is pretty low. And selling CS:S with it means you're trying to sell your steam account?
I'd say you can get $100, max. The unspecified GPU and CPU make it pretty hard to give a good estimation though.

Why won't you give us a Brand name and model?

From a minute or two of googling, my best lead is a Asus Z71v.

I would say max $150. I bought my girlfriends compaq presario v5000 with extra RAM and new HDD for $90 a few months ago off of craigslist. Your's definitely is not that much better so I would expect much.

If you want your laptop to be price checked, saying something like"2.4 ghz" doesn't tell us anything.

What would you rather have, a 2.4 ghz 3500+ AMD or a 2.4 ghz i7-920?

The Acer Aspire 5735z is a decent laptop, just knock off 100 or so dollars of the retail price as long as it is in good condition (screen isn't shitty, no cracks no scratches well maintained etc etc)

Towards the OP, no one is going to pay you 3,000$ to have 3d modeling software installed when more than likely it will be reformated. Or even use that software at all.

I was not planning on anyone paying even 500$ for the laptop. But i think 100 is a little low?

And, im not a techie at all. 2.4 ghz 3500+ AMD or a 2.4 ghz i7-920 means nothing to me, but looking at laptops i would like to now all about the types of graphic cards and what the numbers mean if you could give me a resource tutorial link or something

I honestly couldn't tell you what most of the numbers mean, but looking at the frequency of things doesn't give the full picture. There is a lot more at work then that, and you could have similarly clocked CPU's while one performs completely differently as far as performance goes just because of the way the architecture is.

I would say $120

Mainly because of battery life and processor ( unless its core 2 duo) and its used 14" display, people don't like used to begin with.

$1000! Thought I'd just lighten the mood...

Griff^^ useless post >.<

Probably around 100$-250$, ram is low and if its one processor then thats low aswell.
