So basically my new computer is now way to out of date and I can barely make my script without taking way to much time with the peice of junk I have. Anyway I am building a new computer for my senior project and my "Mentor" who is higher up in the MSI coorperation is helping me build a computer and so far here are the parts...

Motherboard
2010 GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3

Processor
2009 AMD Phenom II X2 Processor 550 (3.1 GHz)

Case
2520 RaidMax Black Smilodon Case

Flash drive Reader
2210 USB Flash Drive Reader

Graphics Card
4000 XFX Radeon HD4870 1GB DDR5

Memory
6006 Super Talent DDR3-1333 4GB

Power Supply
7525 OCZ 700W Stealth Stream Power Supply

Disk Writer/Reader
9000 Lite-On 24x DVD-RW

Hard Disk Drive
9111 Samsung 750GB SATA Hard Drive

Operating System
9601 MS Windows 7 Premium Home 64 bit

Now this is for my senior project so it has to be pretty amazing I am asking him now how high the ram can be upgraded with the processor. I know there is better but with the price range this is pretty good. Also comes with a 3 year warantee and my mentor is my friend who can help me upgrade it if needed. Also it has a specialized case that can hold pretty much any motherboard of any kind that I want. It is completely upgradeable and since the way im building it makes it to where it can open with the switch of a handle it only takes to seconds to change parts out. I have personal seen a computer built exactly like it and have used it myself. For the amount its worth I think its pretty good.

Edit: Yes it has a max Ram of 16 GB

Don't get 16GB of RAM, it would never be used... 4 is more than enough. If you want a noticeable performance increase, I would get a velociraptor hard drive and put things that you would like to run fast on it (OS, games, maybe web browser, etc.) and everything else on the 750GB one (music, pictures, homework, ...).
Almost any case can hold almost any motherboard AFAIK.
You could get a heatsink and overclock a bit to show some extra knowledge.
What's the price? It looks nice.

LOL @ no MSI parts :p

so far like 945 and i wasnt going to put 16 GB of ram i was showing that thats its limit. The heatsink and overlock was gonna be put in later lol. What do you think would be a good monitor by the way. I have two but one needs stay with this computer when I give it to my sibling and I like to have 2

When you're done, write a tut on how to built it with the parts you got :)
I would go for 6 GB of RAM. Eventually you will use >3 and 4 couldnt handle that :/

Well I'm from Washington State and I don't think he is as he has it on the spot and I am not paying him to help me do all the stuff and hours put into helping me. Not just that but the paper work he has to do not just the stuff he has to do for his job but the stuff he is going to do for my senior project.

By the way the Tutorial will be in a new thread and it is coming soon but it depends on the hours I got at work. So the sooner then the better. I will be building multiple types of computers for my senior project not only a custom one that is my way but many different kinds for my benefit. Which is also why I am in my "mentor's" debt. He is going to allow me to build multiple computers. So if you want any specific models of cases, motherboards, ram, graphics cards, PCI cards, or dual booting in the tutorial; you will have to post or send a private message and I will check it before we start. There is no garantee that I will use specific be able to do what you ask but I will try.

P.S. Don't ask for the i7 core I wont even touch it even if he lets me I am not going to break it. Which unless your an idiot (NO offense to anyone) I don't see that happening but with my luck it would happen.

P.S.S. Also will be posting ways of how I made the money for the computer (This will not be an add for my benefit or any companies if any administrator has a problem with me explaining that pease send me a private message so that I don't get into any trouble before I post the thread). There will be pictures and probably a video link that I will upload to Youtube.com

P.S.S.S. Also PM me if you want to help with any of this not building but the tutorial. I will give you my e-mail.

to be honest, that is a very horrible build. You have a budget CPU and a bigger then necessarily PSU and you spent a bunch on a mobo. And there was no point in getting 6 GB ram because your CPU uses dual channel RAM.

Whatever though, I am not entirely sure what you did so I mean your choice and its obviously to late.

Here are my specs if it helps any, just built it a month ago, insane.

Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD3R LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

Processor
Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor

Case
2520 RaidMax Black Smilodon Case (same case)

Flash drive Reader
Rosewill RCR-IC002 74-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB port

Graphics Card
HIS H577FM1GD Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5

Memory
OCZ Obsidian 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3

Power Supply
OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP 600W

Disk Writer/Reader
9000 Lite-On 24x DVD-RW

Hard Disk Drive
Western Digital Caviar Green WD15EADS 1.5TB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Operating System
Windows 7 Premium Home 64 bit
Ubuntu 9.10

That costs about $1,300 but definately worth it! You wont need 600W PSU to be honest, 600W is probably a lot. But the PSU that comes with the case, the cable used to power the CD drive FDD, and HDD is too short, wont reach HDD, so buying a PSU is good. The ModXStream one I have comes with like 70 different cables, you only need like half of them...

I just built this because I felt like it, and have a job so getting the money is pretty easy.

I would choose an Arctic Cooling Silentium T4 Eco 80, silent as hell and only like €90 for case+psu. Also, get an X3 720 or X4 955.
Get a Radeon 5000 series for DX11.
